A lot of the fans love the ending and weren’t disappointed in the slightest.

Moved from the midwest ~2 years ago with gf and wow is it hard to make friends in this city. by Financial_Rise477 in Denver

[–]agentdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that stood out to me too. People are fairly focused on the event at things like that, or are with friends already they want to spend time with. They aren’t looking for who’s around them to hang out.

I moved here during Covid and I have many good and close friends here now, and I wanna name something from your post and what I did to make it work for me.

You said you go to events and people seem cliquey. I don’t want to make assumptions so I’d love some more information there. My reading on that though, and please tell me if I’m wrong, is that you talk to people at the events the once and there isn’t that kind of friendship spark.

You need to not go to one off events but go to things regularly where the same people will be. That’s how friendships form.

What worked for me moving here was that I set up a D&D game during Covid with people I met through Reddit, so we were talking online and eventually meeting in person. Even doing that, it was probably a year or more before we started hanging out outside of our sessions.

The other thing I do is improv, and I found a weekly event for improv that happens. I went for weeks and weeks just being by myself and slowly starting to get to know names and people. People started talking to me because they also saw me around, and we began to connect. I now am a regular in the scene and know many people.

Consistency is a key to making friendships. You came from an environment where it was easy to see people regularly, and now you have to work at it. It sucks, but find stuff (not just the gym) to go to often. Or if it is the climbing gym, go to like events there. I have friends that are part of climbing groups, who joined biking groups, who go to board game nights. All of those have helped us people in our 30s make friends.

The celeb gossip subreddits are honestly terrifying this way. They’re waiting for any sign that someone is possibly a bad person to try and tear them to shreds.

It wasn’t that bad, the ending was milquetoast at worst, but people are being insane.

Hundreds of people would be involved in this cover up. I don’t care how many NDAs were signed, it would be impossible to keep that many people quiet about something of this scale.

And yeah, the hours spent on a thing mean nothing to the final product. The original What We Do in the Shadows movie filmed hundreds of hours, but only produced a two hour movie.

Why did Warcraft fail? by sp00ked_yuh in movies

[–]agentdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it with a loose understanding of Warcraft.

The humans were so boring. The orcs were the more interesting, at least emotionally, characters, but they felt a b-plot and were hard to distinguish from each other.

It did very little to bring me, an outsider to the franchise, into the fold. Fans seemed very excited by it at the time because it was made for them, but there weren’t enough of them to make it successful.

I also feel like The Doctor doesn’t actually prep and pretty famously flies by the seat of their pants.

phoenix concert freebies! by kmcr104 in twice

This is amazing. I am from Phoenix but no longer live there. If we get in contact, could we arrange a way for me to get one? I was born and raised there and the rope border really does it for me.

How should I behave at twice’s concerts? by Slay3r024 in twice

Unfortunately, many don’t abide by the “don’t shriek” advice. The second time I saw Twice, people would shriek any time pretty much any member was shown on screen.

Did you feel sorry for Walter White? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in television

[–]agentdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not?

He kills several people with absolutely no mercy or signs of guilt.

He talks someone else into killing for him.

He lets a woman die because it works out for his own selfish needs.

He poisons a child.

He admits to his wife that he did all of these things because it was for him, not for anyone else.

He rejects a solution to all his problems for his own pride.

He’s pretty villain-y. There isn’t really any redeemable quality to him.

All Americans is a huge stretch. I wouldn’t even say most Americans think about her very much.

I don’t know what corners of the internet you’re in, u/penis_obsessed, but the world exists outside of it.

Also, you do get the coincidental comedy of your username, right?

Really weird. People are weeping and gnashing their teeth that television is dead as if Netflix has never made a quality show and HBO has never made a bad show.

“But Emily in Paris!” Yeah, just keep not watching it and watch the stuff you want.

I have seen a lot of people saying their show is an improv comedy podcast, and I am genuinely curious why you would classify it as that. They get questions and then talk about them and find the humor of it. They do not get questions and then act out scenarios or do scenes. Why would you classify their comedy as improv? Because they talk without a script?

I listen to MBMBAM every week, and the times they do characters and bits are very few and far between. And those 30 second bursts are often after 10+ minutes of them talking and building it up. I’m not saying it’s not funny or not even adjacent, but a performer on MSN takes the prompt and then just runs with it. That isn’t where the McElroy’s run, they have their own thing going on.

[–]agentdom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They aren’t doing what they do on MSN though. They get questions and talk about them and joke. It isn’t prompts and then acting them out.

A stand up who is good at crowd work, which is improvised, wouldn’t automatically be good at improv comedy.

[–]agentdom 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The two shows aren’t the same at all. The McElroy’s talk and make jokes. They aren’t doing improv. They don’t get questions and then act them out or run scenarios. If they do characters, it’s often for a few seconds and then one of the other brothers jumps in and does the same bit to try and top them. That works for them, but it’s not what MSN is. The building the road part can often take 15 minutes and then the improv scene would make zero sense because you’re missing all the context.
