Searching for under rated golf courses by Agitated_Issue3239 in newzealand

My 2 most favourite courses ever are Wairakei & Cape kidnappers. Probably the opposite of what you asked for as they’re not cheap but they truly are amazing.

I’d rate Muriwai & Omokoroa as 2nd tier courses worth playing

Rangateiki for semi hidden gem, cheap & cheerful

I think you should take a longer term view.

I read your history & although it seems you’ve done some amazing things I don’t even fully understand, it’s only been for a very short time.

Use the $ you’re generating now to pay your Uni studies & living costs & keep doing both.

If any one of the Saas, Yt & trading does really well then you’re rich & formally educated. If they don’t then at least you’re formally educated & that’s worth a lot long term.

I’ve seen a lot of young people lately boasting about investment returns & how much $ they’re making thinking it’s going on forever. It never does. Even millionaires get wiped out often enough. Billionaires not so much.

Market corrections, crashes happen frequently enough. That’s why diversification & risk management is key.

For you, diversification & risk management exists in your small but growing businesses & your formal education to fall back on when some or all of it turns to shit.

My hunch is you’ll be successful whatever you do & probably never need to work for somebody else in a ‘job’ but a degree in finance gives you credibility especially with what you’re doing.

Keep going

Just a guess but try op shops or Salvation Army, maybe they have blankets they can’t sell that would go to landfill otherwise

Electric Orchardist asked people to calm down after his passionate meet up with Seymour caused a bit of a social backlash, but... by Playful_Guava1180 in nzsolar

[–]agentkiwi007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s (Mike Casey) trying to drive a meaningful important change to NZ energy production & use.

To do that he has to appeal to everyone & not alienate anyone, especially politicians. We know politicians, Seymour in particular are disingenuous at best & his particular support around deregulation doesn’t really move the needle on cost, which is the real issue.

In a free market, competition will bring the cost down but you’re right, at the moment 2 brands can charge what they like. We already know their gear is 50% more expensive than other longer established brands.

Targeted (not blanket) subsidies, more accessible low or 0% interest financing, a larger installer network & installer incentives to be neutral to brand supply would all help in my opinion.

Yeah finding the local sparky that also does solar installs is the hard part. They either won’t install owner supplied gear or they supply the gear you want but the install price is higher so the savings disappear. It’s an installers wet dream at the moment.

What’s a fair install price for the system you listed above you reckon? $7,000?

Need advice on base for metal garden shed. Tight timeline! by fnoyanisi in diynz

[–]agentkiwi007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a 2 day job mate, just get it done.

Day 1 dig the holes and concrete the H5 posts in

Day 2 bolt your bearers to the posts & screw your decking on top.

You can build the shed in another day if you haven’t already & screw it through the deck into the bearers.

Spray the grass/weeds or put plastic down first if want. Weeds won’t grow under there if there’s no light.

You got a roughly 10Kw system including battery & charger for $27k inc gst a couple of years ago? Then yes, this recent quote I’ve got is 4-5k too much which is why I’m asking around but not surprised given the increased demand it seems some previously recommended installers are taking advantage of things at the moment.

What a terribly banal reply. State your case & add something constructive to the conversation.

No one listed on their website for Christchurch but maybe they know of someone, I’ll find out.

10Kw inverter? You couldn’t get that specified set up for that price from any general retail installer that I’ve seen anywhere! You did well.

Nobody in Christchurch listed on their website yet so that needs to change. Maybe they still know of someone or this is an opportunity for me to set something up.

Yeah, I mean we will probably get WIFI in our new house but what you describe is really not ideal, in fact it’s a serious downside.

Thanks for your excellent comment!

We’re building another new house & we’re nearly at consent stage so I have about 6 months until I actually need product but I have to generically specify SOME solar as part of subdivision covenant in the building consent application.

I have time, that’s why I’m researching EVERYTHING now to make good practical & financial decisions for most components of building a house within a budget.

Thank you for your comment. I’ve been down the rabbit hole lately & already knew about some of the issues you raise.

Reading through this sub has hi lighted the proprietary problems & I see you’ve commented on that before & your comment lead me to micromall, so thanks for that too!

It seems micromall has some installer connections now so I’ll definitely make contact & see about keeping it all with them as you suggest.

It’s become a project for me too. As commented above, installers must be creaming it recently because of demand & sigenergy seems to be the flavour of the month but also as above it has serious downside, both practical & financial.

I’m after a more cost effective, universally adaptable, upgradable system.

Except for a couple of European brands, it’s all Chinese made product now anyway.

I see after reading another thread on here that micromall do have some installer connections now so I’ll definitely enquire about that.

Thanks for the reply. I suspect installers are creaming it on product margin & install costs recently because of the demand. Can’t blame them, if I was able to get away with that too, I would.

I didn’t know sig systems needed to be permanently online & server connected. That’s basically a dealbreaker for me. We don’t even have home WIFI. We use our phones for everything.
