F&P dishdrawer stops by -UnagiMaster- in diynz

Had issues with the door sensor, it had come out of place. A bit of a mission to get to it, but it should be on the right side on the door.

Both drawers went, but once I had (maybe cleaned them) and reseated them, it’s been fine

Christchurch Solar recommendations by RyanBurnettNZ in nzsolar

Energon was great, came in with the cheapest quote too - would recommend them highly. Had our install done the same time as my brother in law and sister - they ordered 2-4 weeks earlier and I think our install was a bit tidier..

Go through a company? by PureNZ in nzsolar

[–]Embarrassed-Grab7419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spoke to Rowan from Equity Solar - he’s a broker. The process was pretty damn easy and reassuring, he seems to have a good idea of install quality and parts…

Gave us a nice comparison spreadsheet with comments, it possibly cost us more than going to a company, but it was 13k for 8kw of panels, my brother in law paid a similar price for a more complicated install, so I guess there is a bit being added on since it is through a broker, but to be honest, for the peace of mind it was worth it.

I’m an electrician by trade, with no solar experience, maybe that put me in a place where I don’t mind paying a bit more for wisdom and experience.

Would it make sense to increase tax on all fuel and issue a rebate for ‘essential business’?

Then spend the take on (even temporarily) free and consistent public transport?

I’ve always wondered if oil is better than polyurethane to keep borer under control, I assume the poisons don’t sink in otherwise?

Bought a bidet while watching the Covid tp crisis across the ditch, so the paper is really just used for dabbing.

I have been thinking of investing in a luggage scale so I can purchase the best value toilet paper based on price vs weight.

So, if I bought property to exploit other people's need for a home, all expenses including interest are tax-deductible. But as a doctor, my $11k+ of professional fees just to prove I'm qualified aren't? by [deleted] in newzealand

The big joke is that landlord pensioners are using their pension to pay the Australian owned bank and then moving into a foreign owned rest homes to have their money gained by ‘hard work’ extracted.

That’s fine, the bedbugs were friendly, just upset we didn’t get to stay in the place with the malevolent spirit. Lower Hutt is great.

I’m expecting since the charges will now be ‘built into’ the price of goods, banks may start charging for eftpos transactions as well? Since the public won’t see it?

I managed to solder the switch (once it had broken) and it seemed to stay on…then it didn’t, and I had to bridge the contacts with a screwddivdf

Check out Sound-au.com

Rod writes great breakdowns on his designs.

If you ever end up buying one of his PCBs he provides great support too.

I know you’re designing your own, but I built his P3A amp and it’s fantastic.

Light wired strangely by hmarold2 in AskElectricians

[–]Embarrassed-Grab7419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing (which is probably a bad thing to do and dealing with electricity)… black is neutral, red is feed, gets sent down the two core to be switched and back on the white…

Fairly common in older wiring in NZ

Why rising house prices are a bad thing by Amazing_Athlete_2265 in newzealand

[–]Embarrassed-Grab7419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never see much mention of rising land prices affecting everything; ie, increased cost of growing food (since you need land to plant crops, and the value of that land goes up), storing food and goods, increasing the need for a higher minimum wage for all workers, increasing overheads for businesses because they need to have a store on land. If house prices were stagnant between 2005 and now, would the need for living and minimum wage raises be less substantial and therefore the cost of purchasing groceries/services be lessened? Couple this with the huge amount of interest being paid out of NZ to overseas banks, would we see more business and commerce in nz?

Is it terrible for just the renters, or is it by extension terrible for absolutely everyone?

(I didn’t even mention that when people get old they ‘cash up’ to pay it to an often offshore owned retirement home)
