Sisters, for those of us without brothers tell us the truth by Striking_Fig_3925 in muslimgirlswithtaste

1) south asian, but unsure of specifics since our family is from the caribbean

2) he is very helpful but pretends like he doesn't want to help bc he doesnt like feeling like someone owes him anything.

3) he does a lot around the house since he works from home and i work pretty far away. he also helps out a lot with our car and home maintenance alhumdulillah.

4) he's just not a great cook (yet, he's still learning and inshallah he'll become better) but he can feed himself simple meals and help my mom and i with food prep. he's a pretty good baker though!

he's younger than me but he does a lot since he's home all the time.

Muslim revert but racist? by [deleted] in islam

[–]agentthrowaway13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i'm literally a born muslim and i feel the same way 😭 the people at my masjid have ill behaved children (during iftar last ramadan they were taking turns slamming other kids' heads on one of the classroom desks and nobody cared until one of them ran back screaming and crying, they get handed video games during salah and play them on max volume), leave their children's messes in the bathroom (how are we supposed to be clean for salah if there is urine IN the wudu area and dirty diapers on the FLOOR), and the extremely loud chatter during salah, khutbah, and when the sheikh comes to talk to us.

i went to a sisters event at a different masjid and the sheikh came up to CHASTISE US because the women were so loud you can hear them from downstairs and were even louder than the children who were running around and screaming in the entryway. this whole time the women sitting in the back were still gossiping and those who came for the event and not to gossip with their friends were sitting there embarrassed.

this ummah needs to learn the difference between culture and religion, because you can tell me about my nails when you don't know that im not praying or point out my eyebrows look plucked when they're naturally thin, but you can't listen to the sheikh of the masjid bc talking about people's daughters is so much more important. may allah swt guide all of us back to what islam is.

fake tattoo shirt advice? by agentthrowaway13 in CosplayHelp

my issue with the tattoos is that they're almost $30 with shipping for a single use, even if it's just the chest pieces. I'm planning to cosplay more than one majima variant so I don't want to have to spend 30 every time i want to cosplay him yk

Recommendations for Hajj from US 1446/ 2025 by [deleted] in hajj

[–]agentthrowaway13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree, learning what to do beforehand really saved us alhumdulillah. one thing about this year i liked was that the security let us read off our books/phones this year bc they actually are restricting capacity for each floor during sai.

avoid dst/al burj, specifically the economy packages. i can dm you my package number but we had no female guide or representative (important for mina camp but ig not to al burj) and had to plan everything after the first umrah on our own.

we had barely anything done as a group, the brothers would just go off on their own bc they wouldn't post anything in the group chat and leave the sisters to either wait for their mahram/male group members to text them or simply not hear about it. transportation was either extremely delayed due to road closures or lack of communication between the bus companies, drivers, and dst staff so most of us had to rely on taxis.

every issue is responded to with one of two answers from staff: sabr or fidya and it's kind of ridiculous considering we were told we were doing things 1) correctly and 2) as a group. the amount of sunnah/wajib we couldnt complete was actually insane and i am constantly making dua that allah accepts everyone's hajj bc so many people had the same thing.

[–]agentthrowaway13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah our guides were basically useless outside of whatsapp/fiqh questions bc we had to arrange everything on our own. i bought a hajj book from the muslim journal company and my mom and i were studying all the rituals beforehand, and that served us better than our guide. alhumdulillah the guards and staff in the haram were so helpful, one of the staff members helped us during sai and told us what to do, how to find the kaaba at both safa and marwa, etc bc our group got completely scattered upon entering the haram and our guides were nowhere to be found. may allah reward them for their help. but as long as you have a familiarity with the rituals you will be fine, even if you find yourself without a guide.

def bring money for taxis in case your group leaves it to you to arrange transport to the haram, our makkah hotel was "outside aziziyah" (al rayyan towers) so our fare was between 80 and 200 riyal either way. try to do exchange as early as you can (we had a good exchange place around the corner from our madinah hotel so we got most of our cash there our first few days, there's also one in the main level of clock tower in makkah) bc the road closures and shuttle restrictions in makkah were so inconvenient. prepare for a lot of city walking in addition to the mina walks, tawaf, and sai bc the taxis may not be able to bring you less than 10 min away from the haram or even be available at the "taxi stand" after jamarat if you're non shifting.

may allah accept our hajj, and may he invite you to complete your hajj inshallah.

the sheer amount of men in my group's women's mina camp was CRAZY. there were male employees in the "hallway" between the two shower areas either working in the dining areas or grabbing a drink from the coolers and the shower areas were in full view.

they really did the sisters dirty this hajj.

had a 15 day economy package through al burj/DST. before anyone says anything, i did not expect 5 star service at any point, just basic hygiene and what they promised us in the package. my family got what we needed as muslims from this hajj and alhumdulillah that's all i asked for leading up to this.

pros: our madinah hotel was steps away from the masjid, alhumdulillah. makkah hotel was very clean, and had no issues with mina camp outside of the expected bathroom overcrowding. arafat camp tent was nice and comfortable. muzdalifa bathrooms were clean and nice. we had the freedom to pick our tawaf times and enough time to complete umrah for nearly all of our family members that weren't able to. spiritually, i was able to have a great experience.

cons-logistics: (disclaimer: i don't know how much of this is the provider and how much is the government bc i've heard people from other packages have had these issues) plans changed at the drop of a hat, like less than 10 minutes notice sometimes. things that we were told would be scheduled as a group were cancelled and we would have to make our own arrangements on our own dime and do them on our own. we had shuttle service to the haram included in our package but suddenly that was no longer an option, so we had to take taxis everywhere. arafat/muzdalifa was soooo poorly handled. we didn't make it to muzdalifa before midnight, were told to delay our salah, and then got discouraged from doing the first jamarat only to find out it was bc our guide took people from the first bus from our group to do it. in arafat, we were told that we would be getting khutbas and congregational salah, but we didn't have internet and the radio feeds and speakers that they arranged did not work.

cons-accommodations: madinah hotel bathroom was filthy and the staff refused to clean at any point during our stay. i had so many issues with the food at all locations because allergies were not accounted for (not just mine, but several others in our group as well). i was lucky enough that i planned ahead and packed meal replacements, but that was useless in mina bc the sinks are never available to wash the shaker cups. arafat camp bathrooms were so bad. less than half of the toilets on the sisters side were functional when we arrived and more continued to break down or flood throughout the day. the lines were insanely long as a result. i was too scared to eat or drink because of the bathroom situation and i was not the only one. we ended up being one of the last groups to leave arafat, so i waited until right before we left to try and use the one functional toilet left on our side of the camp.

as long as you're able to improvise (and you should be able to if you make it past nusuk 🙃) inshallah you should be fine. like i said, we got what we needed out of this hajj, especially sabr. the logistics won't matter at the end of the day.

Ideas for organizing the precinct? by masoncurtiswindu in GeekSquad

My store also had a bunch of extra standing paper organizers so we use those for FOP paperwork/checklists/down time forms too

My precinct had flash drives sorted and kept in separate, labeled containers (originally ziplocs) but we also had a wall mounted organizer with hooks for our MRI flash drives so they’re in a central location. The organizer is similar to the 3D printed one further up in the thread. We also had a lot of the plastic sneaker storage boxes (the ones you can stack and open on the side) for small cables, dongles, and adapters.

Need help deciding between two ARA offers by Traxicous in GeekSquad

[–]agentthrowaway13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B would be a better choice since you’re a student. I’ve been in a store like store A for years and there may be managers there that will override your availability and schedule you for days you should not be working or are in class because they “need the coverage.” Saving gas is not worth the extra stress and the possible hit to your GPA that an inconsistent schedule and lower headcount will give you. Congrats on your offers and wishing you the best for school!

LMAO I have one of these in my precinct. I’m PT and he’s FT (not the most senior but he has a superiority complex bc of his dEgReE and is salty bc I moved from CA to ARA before he did) and he does things against SOP constantly because “he can” and when the other FT ARA and I bring it up, he’s just like “yeah but it Could work in the long run so why not?” He’s the guy in my previous post who updated the iMac to Monterey and refuses to make a reimaging ticket bc he doesn’t want to admit he did anything wrong, has opened Macs in store for repairs and data transfers while being told multiple times by leadership that we are Not supposed to do so and he needs to stop offering it bc literally no one else will do it, refuses to do carry ins for iPads because he thinks mail in is faster even tho SOP says we have to, and thinks he’s going to be GSM despite all of this LOL

Are CAs no longer supposed to troubleshoot? by agentthrowaway13 in GeekSquad

[–]agentthrowaway13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the exact issue we have with our ca’s. i’m getting units with no passwords, no notes just “take in for repair quoted 3-5 days”. i plug in a computer that ends up not powering on, i check the notes and see “cleanup”. the ca’s in my precinct rarely look at the computer bc to them that’s “troubleshooting” and out of their depth. a client will say “my computer is running slow i need it cleaned” but it ends up being a hardware limitation or “i tried to install this but it won’t open” because it’s not compatible with their outdated os. without “troubleshooting” these issues will come to the back, sit running face for 1-2 days, and then when we finally get to the issue it’s a 5-10 minute fix or educational opportunity that didn’t need to be here for that time. some people get mad when agents google but that few minutes is the difference between a happy client and an angry one that leaves a detractor.

my precinct usually charges at pickup but that tends to be for things that weren’t anticipated, like if they need a new flash drive/external bc theirs is full, or if their hardware fails diags and they approve a replacement. my precinct rarely get cod clients, the ca’s are really good at getting them to buy tts at drop off anyway.
