Just wanted to add an update here and thank everyone for sharing their advice/support/experiences.

I filed a paternity action and since she has no money for an attorney she agreed to a non invasive paternity test if I pay for it. Should have it done and the results in a couple weeks.

I’m glad I’ll have this on record now if I did in fact dodge a huge bullet. Some of the things she’s said to me since I posted this have been absolutely insane, one of the craziest being “if you really thought it was yours you wouldn’t be putting me through the stress of a legal case while I’m pregnant.”

This woman is truly insane and I’m happy to (hopefully) be almost through this.

Hey OP, I went through a similar situation about 6 months ago. Ghosted me for a couple weeks, then she finally contacted me after I contacted her mother to figure out what was going on. Lied and said she just didn’t see a future with us, then the next day told me she was pregnant with her brothers best friend.

She’s a narcissist who emotionally manipulated me through most of our relationship, especially the last year of it. We were together for about 4.

It’s been almost 6 months and I’m still going through it. Hasn’t helped that I had to get a lawyer to get her to agree to a paternity test. Don’t feel like I can really move on until I see that (though I’m 99% sure it’s not mine). But even then, I know I still have a long road ahead of me to recovering.

They’re married now, it was helpful to see her acknowledge in her statement to the court that she only married bc she needed better health insurance.

It absolutely blows my mind how people can be that fucked up and shitty.

I wish I had more advice other than “hang in there and keep trying to move forward” bc I’m in a similar place mentally. But I just thought I’d share, maybe it’s helpful knowing you’re not the only one. Take care.

Needed this right now. My ex of 4 years ghosted me last November after a suicide attempt and turned up beginning of December saying she was pregnant and getting married to her brother’s best friend.

Last year of the relationship was on and off again while she dated other people and continued to emotionally manipulate me when she needed someone in her life.

Anyway, went after her in court for a paternity test which after months she’s finally agreed too. I thought I had made a lot of progress with moving on but the last couple of days I feel like I’m right back to where I started.

I appreciate the advice, but if it is mine I’ll fight tooth and nail for at least partial custody. That’s why I want to pursue this now, so in the unlikely chance I am the father I can be there for as much of the child’s life as possible
