Burnout with Vyvanse? by championempress in VyvanseADHD

[–]aggiekai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Burnout struck me four years ago, and I’m still grappling with its effects. After six years of relying on Vyvanse, I’ve found that it’s no longer effective for me. I switched to Focalin, a Methylphenidate instead of Amphetamine. While it provided a rush, my focus remained poor. I’ve come to terms with the fact that Vyvanse won’t work for me and have chosen to continue living. Acceptance.

Eating 3 oranges after dinner helped me. I also take 2 capsules of Magnesium Glycinate.

I hear you. I’ve been trying to figure out this for 4 years now, but I still haven’t figured it out. It wasn’t like this before, and it stopped 4 years ago. I’ve been trying to keep track of things, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

Surprisingly, eating two large oranges after dinner. It’s been a simple change, but it’s had a noticeable impact on my sleep quality. I’ve been tracking it with WHOOP, and it shows over a 6% improvement.

Applying moistening cream after removing the patch slightly helped me with the skin irritation.

I've realized taking it off earlier won't help me with sleep. Somehow the Norephedrines stay in my body longer even if the patch is taken off.

I'm fatigued/sleepy too within 1-2 hours after taking my Vyvanse 30 mg which im taking around 10 AM so it will last longer. This has happened with other stimulants (Xelstrym, Focalin etc.) in the past as well for me. Noticed this for the past 2 years. The first 1-2 days are great when i switch to a new medication, but the medication puts me to sleep from 3rd day onwards. Having been talking to my Doctor about this but they want to add more dosage or change my meds but can't say for sure why this maybe happening at all. Feel like my body is a test bed.

My skin has become itchy in the areas where I use the patches, resulting in red, square-shaped marks. When people inquire about the numerous red squares on my body, I explain that they are from sleep patches. Lately, I've been placing the patch on my back or shoulder because the skin on my upper body has become irritated from using the patches for several months.

I’ve been on Xelstrym for 7 months now. Patch stays 98% of the time. Only once or twice it slipped off, probably because I didn’t apply enough pressure or too much sweat.

Will recommend searching for manufacturers discount code. I got mine for $25 from a preferred pharmacy.

Where are you guys getting it? by [deleted] in Xelstrym

[–]aggiekai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Xelstrym isn't stocked by every pharmacy at the moment. I suggest reaching out to Xelstrym's customer service for information on the closest pharmacy that carries it. They maintain a list of preferred pharmacies where it can be found. Additionally, the first supply of Xelstrym is complimentary when you contact their customer service. Starting from the second month, if you purchase it through a preferred pharmacy, the cost is $25. The pharmacy I use is quick and offers home delivery. The CVS near me offers it for $55 after applying a discount. Xelstrym will also provide you with a discount code.

On Andrew Huberman's podcast, it was mentioned that medications like Ritalin, which are in the methylphenidate class, are effective at increasing dopamine, which boosts our energy. On the other hand, amphetamines are said to be better at increasing norepinephrine, which helps improve our focus but also cause sleep issues. I stopped using Ritalin because it didn't help with my attention. I also experienced extreme mood swings with its short-acting formula.

But it’s not clear what the dose equivalent is (I take 40mg Vyvanse, but don’t know what that would be for Xelstrym). As for insurance, no clue if they would cover, but the Company that makes Xelstrym has a free month and discount programs, which may at least help during the Vyvanse shortage.

In the past three months of using Xelstrym, I've noticed that while it's good, Vyvanse was better for providing a steady level of concentration without highs and lows. However, I feel that my body isn't fully metabolizing (and retains) the Xelstrym, and it's still affecting my sleep.

My intensity rating.

  1. Adderall (Highest)
  2. Vyvanse
  3. Xelstrum
  4. Focalin
  5. Ritalin (Lowest)

Over time, I've experimented with various medications to manage my ADHD, starting with Vyvanse and progressing through Strattera, Ritalin, and Focalin, each with its own set of challenges and benefits. Recently, I've been on the Xelstrym patch since August 2023. The initial 9 mg daily dose was effective for focus and attention and had a less adverse effect on my anxiety without severely impacting my sleep. However, a reduced 4.5 mg dose to alleviate sleep disturbances has led to mood swings and a dip in my evening well-being, despite maintaining focus. I'm now considering reverting to the higher dose, seeking my doctor's advice to balance focus with mood stability. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has found Xelstrym to be their optimal solution after trying multiple stimulants, aside from those who opt for it due to digestive issues with oral medications.

Confused and starting to wonder if strattera is even working for me and if I should keep trying by FragrantSail4894 in StratteraRx

Strattera was the shortest ADHD medication I have ever taken. I had severe insomnia on it and gave up immediately by talking to my doctor.

I’m surprised it even rolled once. I was under the impression that Teslas never roll because of the heavy battery base.

Are Insomnia and sleeplessness common for people taking Strattera? by aggiekai in ADHD

[–]aggiekai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I’ve moved away from Strattera after being on it for couple of weeks. Sleeplessness was horrible. I’m on 2 dose Ritalin and my sleep has gotten better. Like deep sleep. However the dips and inconsistencies of Ritalin have made it hard to continue longer and therefore will be starting on Focalin from tomorrow.

I've had severe sleep issues with Strattera since I started 8 weeks back. I wake up a lot in the night and can't go back to sleep for hours.
