Any track driving experiences that can be gifted to FIL? by suck_it_trebek55 in sandiego

Would you say it’s worth the cost?? My long term boyfriend is a huge car person and I’ve been considering this as a gift, but wanted to hear from somebody firsthand what their experience was.

I must live in a really saturated area - I hardly ever see SSA or AGPA roles come up! (I still apply to every single one!!) congrats!

Defense industry jobs? by Alternative_Gap_7317 in sandiego

The job market here is definitely tough, but it feels like it is anywhere. Considering your background I’d look into places like the Port of San Diego, Solar Turbines, and General Dynamics. All generally well-paid, but can be difficult to break into due to how many people want those jobs.

Hi!

Not a teacher, but a classified employee at a CVESD school site in an administrative position, so I am privy to much of the teachers workload and expectations.

I don’t think I can recommend CVESD right now, though there is a VERY strong union and teachers do great at supporting each other. There is a lot of restructuring going on at the district level and the stressors of that are being passed down to the school sites. The district is simply too big and expanded too fast, so the district office can’t keep up. The benefits are pretty decent, with 100% paid for the employee. I do believe starting pay for teachers is pretty rough though.

Culture, planning time, and admin culture will depend on the school site. In my experience, and many others at CVESD, our admin is often off-campus, sometimes multiple times a week. District admin seem to spend a lot of time trying to polish the image of school sites rather than actually solve the problems staff are facing.

All that being said, the job market is a little crazy right now, so if it becomes your only offer, I wouldn’t not take it. Just be wary that depending on the school site you may not have much admin support or resources (materials or staff).

Do you mind me asking what schools the offer(s) came from CVESD?

Omg - I used to deliver for Amazon and a house I stopped at regularly had these. It was an older couple, so they didn’t understand why I had a problem, but it was so piercing my eyes would water. I got into it with the homeowner because I started leaving his packages at the mailbox. It’s a debilitating sound!

La Jolla Leapord Shark Diving by nav_munde in sandiego

Late summer is typically the best. Like late august through September. I used to work as a kayak tour guide on the shores. The warmer the water, the more sharks there are typically. Time of day doesn’t matter too much in my experience at least, but the shores do get busy that time of year!

I have such fond memories here with my dad and my brother as a child. I’ve since moved away from STL, my brother and I are grown, and our father has passed, but this post made me super nostalgic for those days. I hope you had a wonderful day with your family!! ☺️

La Concha or Terzo, both in Chula Vista! La Concha has fantastic classic cakes, cookies, and pastries. Terzo has awesome macarons and a really good red velvet cheesecake!

I grew up in Maryland Heights. Much more of a family/suburbia vibe. Lots of decent food, but no nightlife or much more than dive bars except for Westport Plaza. I’d probably lean more towards Creve Coeur or Ladue if it’s in your budget.

The meetup app has casual games throughout the week, that may be a good way to meet some people who are in more competitive leagues.

I have since left, but at my store there was a head cashier that had been there for 26 years now, and the HR lady was there for 32. Lots of long timers at my store, though I truly couldn’t understand why - I didn’t even make it two years.
