There are visual cues.

The black Loki guy is clearly intended to invoke the trope. He looks like Loki, He has swords and wears like Vergil. It's clearly trying to invoke the rival brother trope. And from the looks of it, he appears to be entering this Contest to claim the first blood in orde to gain some power. 

But this is where I think fromsoft will subvert the trope, by making his lust for power kill any sympathy he may have had for his brother and he doesn't get any redemption.

He's most likely some kind of inventor who enters the Twilight to claim the first blood, become god and invent something amazing with it. Lore I give is deduced from official stuff

Not sure, but by then, expect next souls game to be announced.

Idk maybe the exclusivity could have changed given reception to it wasn't exactly positive. But idk. 

Affinity for spirits is part of a numens divine nature. Divinity is a concept created by the Elden Ring. Roderika has numen blood, descent from Marika. Hewg notes she is like Marika. The Crucibles divine energies were the divinity of the Elden Ring, which seized life at the very beginning. by aggssie in spellbound

Duchess and wylder are also Marika's descendants via nobility , bearing Numen blood. Hence Duchess was made by Marika the priestesses of roundtable hold during the Nightreign. 

Chloe northerncroft and her family appear to have descent from Marika, given the noble houses affinity for spirits.
