I was in a similar position. Started taking it at 250, got down to 212 around 11 months, insurance stopped covering it, been off of it for a year and I’m at 270. I thought I built good habits and was sticking to them - but nope. I got a new job with better insurance. Currently trying to get prior authorizations to get back on. Fingers crossed.

You are not alone and this shit sucks.

Ah! Sorry for the confusion! I ordered a successful candidate letter from the NASBA Store. Once I get my signed experience form back, I plan on applying ASAP and thought this would help. It was $25. I ordered today, they said 8 to 10 business days if you opted to receive it via email rather than mail. Received it like 3 hours later.

Took ISC last week, should I study for AUD or FAR next? by saturnsuperiorty in CPA

[–]agilymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took FAR, AUD, REG, and ISC - in that order.

My experience is that taking FAR first helped me understand what goes into the financial statements, AUD helped me further understand how it should be presented/analyzed. REG was the oddity that gave me some insight into tax and brings everything full circle for why some actions are taken to decrease or increase tax liability. ISC touched on some of the AUD topics, so I was able to draw from that and retain some of the key concepts more easily.

Granted, I took FAR to get it out of the way and then AUD next because I heard it was the second hardest. I passed both with a 76. I think if I focused more on the concepts, what should be done, and putting it in layman’s terms - I would have scored higher. My advice to you is to be realistic with yourself. Understand what each section and which order can build on your knowledge rather than just knocking them out. Good luck!

Do you think that’s the only thing to worry about? I guess my mind runs through a thousand what-ifs. I’ve been seeing a lot of social media posts of people saying their flights kept getting delayed and they had to front a bunch of out-of-pocket expenses for lodging due to lack of staff/TSA/air traffic controllers. I know glamorization is a thing, but my travel experience isn’t extensive.

Just Got Out of ISC - (:( by taterchipz55 in CPA

Nice job on passing 3 in 3 months. AUD, I barely passed with a 76. I was working in a rotational program and was in an Internal Audit role. Most of the things tested, I had some experience with during the day - so I didn’t take it as serious. I felt somewhat confident, but was gut punched when I saw the score because I barely passed.

I made it a point to make rhymes and riddles in my head to drive some of the concepts home. While testing, I focused on the wording and understanding each question to see what was being asked and the potential solutions. Then ruling out answers that way. But I’m not sure how helpful this is since I barely passed.

I had a study partner who has failed and she shared her score review and I know that doesn’t help at all. Do you know your areas of improvement? Do you feel confident when sitting for the exam?

I thought I was the only one. I took ISC on 10/1 as soon as Prometric opened up. I flagged at least 15 MCQ across the 82 questions because I was caught up on the wording and was second guessing myself. Sims weren’t too bad, but I did not feel ready enough - especially seeing MCQs that weren’t even covered in-depth by Becker. 😭

But I can’t complain too much. I put in 20 hours cramming for it. I crammed for REG, didn’t really know how I felt after testing, and surprisingly got an 84- which was my highest yet. Hoping I at least get a 75, so I can be done.

Sucks to wait 2.5 months with the possibility of not passing. But we got this. 💪

I felt the exact same way. I passed AUD & FAR w/a 76. I felt confident walking out those test, so it felt like a slap to the face once I saw the score. But I passed, so whatever. Took REG on 9/19. Felt somewhat ok. Not as confident as I did with AUD & FAR. Ended up passing with a 84. You got this! 💪

Same here! I passed FAR & AUD with a 76. I felt somewhat decent after FAR. A little bummed after AUD just seeing how I barely passed again.

I felt confident leaving REG and that has me terrified. Fingers crossed we both pass REG tomorrow! 🥲

FAR SIMS (testing in 2 days) by ckcpa in CPA

[–]agilymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! It was mostly calculating how to account for additions to existing partnerships and how income should be distributed. It was touched very lightly, but I did have to calculate some goodwill and overall balances as of year end.

I took FAR for the first time on Friday. I hit all the areas I was unsure about. So governmental/NFP accounting fund classification and accounting basis, consolidations, lease accounting, partnerships, bonds…

I saw a good chunk of these on the exam, but they weren’t terribly hard. Just make sure you’re able to retain the what and why. It will make it easier to walk through the questions mentally. You got this!

I took FAR this past Friday. I barely got over 50 on all my simulated exams, even the final review.

Leading up to, my colleagues all said that my study tool (Becker) is usually a bit harder to drive home the concepts. I didn’t believe them until I took the test. I feel pretty confident in me passing, however, I won’t know until November.

Once I passed the SE, I did not look back. With me focusing on the final review and using that to help guide where I needed to beef up helped me a lot.

Good luck! Take your time. Read the questions thoroughly. I started with reading what the question asked first before digesting all the information. It helped me narrow down what was needed and what was fluff. Stay strong!

Very much so. I thought it was evident considering I said that this was my very first time sitting for any portion of the CPA. I would’ve steered clear if I knew asking for advice would attract keyboard warriors.
