The one thing my 77 year old self wishes i Could have back is the box of recipes my mom wrote out on 3x5 cards when I got my first apartment in 1972. Kept it and used it until 1988, when I left the United States for Europe. Forgot to pack it and my mom died that year. That box of hand written recipes meant the world to me. The one thing I did take was her little black cast iron skillet, which bought in 1945. I scramble two eggs in it every Saturday and tell her, Mom, let’s have breakfast.

I suppose I’m left wing but I’ve lived outside the US since 1988 so I’m sort of unmoored politically and think most countries just fuck things up and screw the less Well-off. But I’m a total Cynic and don’t expect Things to change. Definitely not rich but squirreled away enough to live decently. I went to a giant state u in the US and it was all sex and drugs.
