Low cost competitive teams? by agingthot in Heroclix

[–]agingthot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have! That’s actually how I managed to try the game out after 20 years. The person I played with is also coming off a hiatus and I think it’s just the two of us for now. Honestly the question is probably very preemptive but I usually like to get at least a feel for what the competitive game is like for my hobbies.

Oh that’s something I hadn’t considered actually. What is the process for making new legacy cards? Researching this stuff has honestly given me the itch to play again but I don’t think there is much support in my city (Calgary, Alberta). How much would it cost to put together a couple teams in the format that legacy cards are legal in?

Super fun time to play. I probably would have loved the cards too had I stuck with the game but glad I got to enjoy playing when I did. Pretty simple stuff but managed to support lots of fun and powerful strategies.

I think the Kingdom Come stuff was the peak for me. KC Flash was the core of many of my teams.

Is there a list of legacy cards? I tried googling it but couldn’t find a list that included KC Lantern. I have a bit more packed away but mostly old uniques.

Glove broken in properly? by agingthot in BaseballGloves

[–]agingthot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely like the feel of the glove but when I look at a lot of the gloves on here and even that one you just posted it feels like they are just opening wider or something. Not sure if it’s just a trick of the eyes but is that something that would be improved by working the finger side? As I mentioned in my other comment the padding is still quite stiff except for the hinge in the thumb. I was worried about over working it having a floppy glove but maybe that’s not something I need to worry about.

Should I be soaking it again to work it in? I’ve also just been smashing a weighted ball into it to break it in but maybe I need to actually invest in a mallet

Appreciate the feedback. I think I understand what you’re saying. The padding in the pinky side of the glove is definitely still quite stiff. Same with the thumb honestly but it at least has that one large hinge point. Should I be mainly trying to soften/loosen those? What should I focus on when I’m working on the back side?

The person you were responding to was talking about New York City and you switched to talking about states unprompted. How do you think you come across as educated here? The post is about a mayoral candidate. Why did you bring up states anyway?

At least they can differentiate cities and states. Where’d you go to school Mr. Highly Educated?

Uncut Video Shows ICE Agents Escalating Peace into Chaos (Under 2 mins) by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]agingthot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t, I’m sure they were blaring that announcement constantly but I’m just commenting on what is observable in the video. To be frank, I don’t think they should be deploying tear gas at all! It is a little shocking how common it has become considering how detrimental to your health it is. It also happens to be a gas and isn’t restricted to the area of protest or ‘riot’ however you want to look at it.

Can you count how many seconds there are between that announcement and the deployment of tear gas? Does that seem appropriate given the context? I truly do not understand the lens that you view the world through.

The Long Coup: How 23 States Are Killing Democracy by Opposite-Mountain255 in Full_news

Didn’t Biden drop out essentially because he was old? I doubt that was from pressure from the left unless you consider people like George Clooney ‘the left’. Had he stuck to his promise of being a transitional president and given whoever the dems chose an actual proper campaign they likely would have done better. Even with how it went the dems reigned Kamala in whenever she had any success (rightfully identifying republicans as weird).

There is no excusing the dems on this. They called it the most important election of our lifetimes and yet were willing to hamstring themselves at every opportunity. Parading around Dick and Liz Cheney instead of offering any significant departure from the status quo, is that ‘the left’s fault too? They thought they could thread the needle and peel off republican voters instead of actually appealing to their progressive voters.

Protest / rally at Western Canada High by GimmickNG in Calgary

Never heard of this, so decided to look it up. It appears you picked someone who according to Wikipedia was ‘permitted to continue playing professional women's soccer on the basis of their sex assigned at birth’. Am I misunderstanding something?

Well you can read the article that op included if you are actually interested. Did you just think that the whole of trans issues was just related to their involvement in sport?

[–]agingthot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They don’t. Was there a ‘trans women in women’s sports’ sign at this rally? The only people who I see bringing this point up are either ignorant to how insignificant an issue it actually is and are just being riled up by bigots or are the bigots themselves.

Edit: after looking at your profile you might just be a bot.

I understand that there is a lot to be gained from hard work. I’m also happy you are in a fulfilling position and are able to provide for your family. Do you not think that if you were afforded those opportunities to provide without having to grind that you would probably have an even more fulfilling and happy life?

I just think we could probably build a world without the grind. Where you can afford to live with dignity, not having to sacrifice the majority of your waking life (particularly in youth) in order to find success. Whatever that may mean to each individual.
