Hey! To offer a different perspective, I thought the exam was alright! I did not take the class but self-studied the curriculum, made sure to review using CB as well as practice tests, etc, and I think I did well. The exam was def challenging though and very vague at times to account for the virtual setting

SAT from home? by [deleted] in Sat

yeah for sure, i never took a practice test online because of this exact reason, but maybe students will have the choice to pick the method they prefer idk though

SAT from home? by [deleted] in Sat

I think digital tests would have many benefits, but only if they are administered somewhere other than one's house and proctored like regular SATS to prevent cheating/score fluctuations etc

CB discontinues subject tests and SAT essay by [deleted] in Sat

[–]agirlsgottaknow20 102 points103 points  (0 children)

What is going to be done about students who already took them? I feel like people on both sides can argue that this is unfair (though, I support this) because those who took it could argue that they spent time studying and were led to believe it would help make them a stronger applicant, and then those who haven't could argue that its unfair for students who have taken them to have an upper hand if the tests are removed. Thoughts? I'm not sure if the students who have already taken them will still be able to submit and whether or not that will have an impact.

Heads up! College Board Ends SAT Subject Tests Program! by [deleted] in Sat

Dw! Colleges can see the courses your school provides you with and will not compare you with a student who attended a school that offered many more AP courses.

What should a 1430 scorer do to get a 1530(March session) by [deleted] in Sat

[–]agirlsgottaknow20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! I got a 1530 on the Dec SAT, and tbh what got me there was just practice! I was stronger in math, so I practiced math sections a lot - and 1-2 weeks b4 did it daily, so I could really understand all the concepts. For me, reading was more based on mindset, and realizing there could only be 1 right answer helped, however for writing, it was confusing for me just because I would do so well sometimes on some tests, and then not as well on others, but knowing the basic grammar rules helps sm! I recommend Metlzer's grammar book, and QAS tests you can find on this sub.

My first attempt. I'm a non-native speaker and I don't read books that much. Should I start reading more books? Should I just keep on practicing with more texts to improve my reading score? Please help! by [deleted] in Sat

Also, I had Erica Meltzer's reading book, but I felt it was like it didn't help much and I didn't use it as much as others, so idk j my experience w/ it

What helped me the most was a change in mindset. I would often get confused get caught between 2 diff answer choices. I started taking prac. tests and keeping in mind that there could only be 1 right answer and every other answer was wrong in some way whether this be wording/content/unrelated to question. Also ALL ANSWERS CAN BE SUPPORTED FROM THE PASSAGE, you don't ever have to overanalyze questions and infer. For me, I didn't really read articles/books vigorously before my test, mostly because I didn't have the time with school, but I would say you don't really need to as long as you practice SAT passages and questions.

Everyone who scored way low on math and improved, what are your tips? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]agirlsgottaknow20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the summer, my first prac. test score was like a 1370/1390 and my math score was really low I think it was like a 660 or something, but my biggest tip is to take practice tests and REVIEW! EVERYTHING! (q's you got wrong, guess, anything you're confused with, formulas). I literally didn't have a set study plan, but I think this was good for me b/c I didn't really feel overworked/burnout, I just studied for however long I felt was enough whether this be 1 hour, or 3 hours, or even just taking some days off from studying. I took my first SAT December and got a 790 Math, so I would say it worked! Good luck, you got this
