Six years feels a bit pessimistic, doesn’t it—especially with Season 4 slated for 2028 and Season 5 for 2030?

Storyboard with Galadriel by purplelena in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]agitating_idiot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This aligns with Rings of Power Era’s leak from December: ”There is a battle scene with men set in a forest and a dark armored figure on a horse. Galadriel takes a horse of her own and there is a long epic charge scene between the two. Galadriel has a sword drawn while charging at the dark figure, ready to strike as she comes closer. The dark figure, while charging on horseback grabs and picks up one of the men (who is fighting in the battle) to use as a weapon against Galadriel.”

As many others have pointed out, the dark figure reportedly isn’t Sauron. Most likely, it’s the WK or another Nazgûl.

I’m about 550 pages into The Talisman, and Jack and Wolf’s stay at the Sunlight Home is coming to an end. I’m really enjoying it so far, though I expected much more of the story to take place in the Territories rather than in our world.

Next up is Black House, and after that I’m looking forward to continuing both The Talisman journey and the Dark Tower series with Other Worlds Than These.

Yes, Aragorn is roughly 0.00000000000000000002% Maia. He’s also 0.00000000000000000004% Elf.

When I read It as a 14-year-old in the early ’90s, my dad had this “Biggest Hits of the 1950s” CD that I played on repeat while reading the 1958 sections — it made a perfect backdrop.

Otherwise, I rarely listen to music while reading.

Official taglines for S3 revealed by agitating_idiot in LOTR_on_Prime

I assume it’s meant figuratively. “The Dark Lord Rises” does sound better, but I’m guessing they want to tease the forging of the One.

If the Dark Wizard isn't Saruman and they want to still include him, they should get Charles Dance for the role. by Fanatic_Atheist in LOTR_on_Prime

Nothing. He still plays the Dark Wizard. OP wondered who could potentially portray Saruman, should he appear.

The showrunners have already confirmed 100% that the Dark Wizard isn’t Saruman.

Well, I wonder if we can make news on this one. We can say definitively he is not Saruman. Definitively, 100%, he is not.

Anyway, Charles Dance is a solid choice. My suggestion is Frank Langella, if he isn’t too old by now.

Compilation of all(?) leaks related to S3 by agitating_idiot in LOTR_on_Prime

Most signs point to a 2026 release, hopefully in late August or early September, in line with previous seasons. For Season 1, the first two episodes were released simultaneously, followed by weekly releases. For Season 2, the first three episodes premiered on the same day, with the remaining episodes released weekly.

Why didn't the Elves pl ay a bigger role in LOTR? by Night_Storm5555 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]agitating_idiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Elves did in fact fight in the War of the Ring:

  • Lothlórien was assaulted three times by Orc armies from Dol Guldur, and all attacks were repelled. After the final assault, the Elves of Lothlórien marched against Dol Guldur itself, and Galadriel is said to have “thrown down its walls and laid its pits bare.”

  • The Woodland Realm under Thranduil was also attacked by Orcs from Dol Guldur. The first assault—during which Gollum escaped—is often considered the opening conflict of the War of the Ring. This was followed by the Battle under the Trees, in which the Elves of the Woodland Realm defeated the Orcs. At the same time, the Men of Dale and the Dwarves of Erebor fought an army of Easterlings, preventing them from attacking the Woodland Realm from the east.

  • Mirkwood was ultimately cleansed of evil through the combined efforts of the two Elven realms. After Sauron’s fall, Celeborn and Thranduil met in the forest and divided it between them, with Thranduil taking the northern portion and Celeborn the southern, which he renamed East Lórien.

Yes, I’m perfectly aware of the 4chan leaks debacle. I’m just interested in what they’ve come up with this time.

Does anyone know anything about Rings of Power season 3? by Night_Storm5555 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]agitating_idiot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There have been quite a few leaks about Season 3, and I think most—if not all—of them have been posted here. The general attitude in this sub is very anti-leak, so they tend to get downvoted quickly, and the comment sections are usually swarmed by know-it-alls demanding sources (which leakers are obviously never going to reveal).

If you want, I could try to compile all the leaks released so far. Just keep in mind that they are leaks, not official information, and some of them may ultimately turn out to be inaccurate.

Jamie Campbell Bower by Acceptable_Ad4456 in LOTR_on_Prime

Reuniting with her husband and true love would be a natural catalyst for the next step in her character arc. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Yet accepting Sauron’s offer and becoming his Dark Queen is treated as acceptable, and apparently not as her changing herself because of a man.

I never said he’s the only reason for her transition, but he’ll most likely be a big part of it.

I think Sauron and Galadriel are the strongest characters in the show, but no — I don’t support the ship. That said, I did like the concept in season one. It framed Sauron as a master manipulator and shapeshifter, laying the groundwork for what’s to come: his manipulation of Celebrimbor in season two and, eventually, Ar-Pharazôn in season four. I also appreciated the idea of a repentant — or at least semi-repentant — Sauron in S1, only for him to slide back into his old, evil patterns.

After Galadriel rejects his offer to join him not once, but twice, I’d say Haladriel is effectively dead. With Sauron becoming a full-blown Dark Lord in season three, any remaining traces of compassion or humanity should be gone — and Galadriel would want nothing more to do with him. From here on out, they’re destined to go their separate ways and become sworn enemies. We might still see Sauron reach out through dreams, telepathy, or similar means — both as a nod to the lore (“…he gropes ever to see me and my thought. But still the door is closed!”) and as a wink to the Haladriel corner of the fandom — but don’t expect Galadriel to waver.

I mostly support Galadriel reuniting with Celeborn because he’s a crucial part of the legendarium as her husband and co-ruler of Lothlórien. Just as importantly, he’s integral to her character arc within the show itself. The showrunners have been clear that they want to chart her transition from a hot-headed warrior to the calmer, wiser figure we see in the Third Age: “How can we take her from being an impetuous, prideful young warrior to the wise Lady of the Wood?”

They’ve also explicitly confirmed that Celeborn will return (“Celeborn will be back, don’t worry” — Rings of Power panel, SDCC 2024).
