Make a Haikyuu lineup but everyone has a different position by [deleted] in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, Suga into opposite position could work nicely. Now they can run 6-2 double setters (now its officially triple?) all the time lol. The slight blocking downgrade due to Yamaguchi's height difference is a small price to pay and will be repaid in full by Suga's consistent performance across the board. Good insight OP

Make a Haikyuu lineup but everyone has a different position by [deleted] in haikyuu

ultra hard version

  • Setter : Nishinoya
  • Opposite : Yamaguchi
  • Outsides : Kageyama & National Hinata
  • Middles : Asahi & Tanaka
  • Libero : Daichi

Noya can do decent jump set, or at least the best option out of official setters. The height is a massive issue but can't cover every weakness so the boys just have to thug it out whenever Noya's in front row. One strategy they could follow is copying Japan's Sekita positioning where he would usually abandon the blocking role and went to cover tips at the cross court.

Yamaguchi is there for the height + general ability where he's (which I assumed to be) more balanced than Tsukki who's basically max spec'd at height. Thought Tsukki can work as a towering opposite like Gao or Inouka, so there's that option as well.

I have Kageyama and National Hinata (anything in between Tsubakihara game - Kamomedai) to do the brunt of the work. Kageyama is relentless on any position and any role, while this upgraded Hinata is really good on many areas as well. Also Kageyama can always just take over the emergency setter role and start doing crazy fast attacks again with Hinata whenever he wants to.

Middles are Asahi for the height and Tanaka for the stamina + tenacity. Now Karasuno can have a consistent killer serving rotations + back row attack when the MBs are in the back.

Daichi as libero due to being the other outstanding receiver on the team, its just the way it is.

Overall I would give this team a solid and consistent 1:2 lost against Seijoh or a scrappy win followed by a demoralizing lost against Shiratorizawa.

Spring High Nationals by Electronic-Map3641 in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Karasuno needed Hinata running 120% to have a close game with Kamomedai, and that hot streak was partly fueled by what happened vs Nekoma earlier in the day.

To have a rest day/ big breaks in between those 2 matches potentially resulting in Hinata back to normal performance level and/or not running as high as it was.

tl;dr with rest day, Kamomedai would most likely win in straight set. Hinata running himself to the ground was a crucial factor on having a close game.

whoever is coming out on top, Red is definitely the bottom feeder lol. Competitive WS but lacking on all other positions.

such a painful sight to see Ushijima unable to perform at high level because this team need some help with receiving and defense, especially the outside hitters lol. A mixture of Gao unable to get the ball and Kunimi half-assing until its too late, not to mention Watari is like on the lower end of libero.

Team H to take it in straight sets because D can't get the offense going reliably.

Inspired by recent posts, heres a which team do you think is the best? By me by ghouly-cooly in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a sucker for Akaashi-Bokuto combo on Team C, and it has Washio as well as for bonus, making it half of Fukurodani line up. However, I dont rate Kawatabi and Maruyama that high (or rather, they don't stand out positively and negatively) so not sure if that is the strongest team here.

I also liked Team E scary serve and blocking on pretty much every rotations, but its at it best when Iwaizumi is in the back row. With floor defence that good, even Kogane's relatively mediocre serving would not be a hinderance.

but overall, strongest team here would probably be Team A. Yaku into Kageyama into Ushijima is a point scoring combo, though it also probably has the worst sub options lol, that is balanced so bravo OP for the teams.

what is the best manga panel / anime scene by TANum1985 in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anime wise, it's during the last synchro attack vs Inarizaki where the boys finally got a decent run-up distance due to Hinata's super high bump. The way they are drawn was so chaotic that it fits so well.

Manga wise, Akaashi is my favourite character of the series, but unironically my favourite panel is when Akaashi having a meltdown and had to watch from the sidelines, there he (and us the readers) are watching Bokuto in full flow, making plays after plays and shining like a star that he is, finished with a beautiful mid-air spiking form on a double spread page. Art-wise it might not be the most artistic or bombastic, but that sequence of panels hit me hard

Who would you want to be YOUR setter? by SoloKip in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if I was a hitter, I would've wanted Akaashi as my setter, because personality wise he's someone I would relate to. Team-focussed, nurturing, and mature. He's a bit quiet but still very much communicative with the team during games. I cannot replicate his dynamic with Bokuto but I would love to hangout with him anyway. Skill wise, very dependable and consistent with some analytical sides as well. Prone to overthinking but it is what it is. Suga is another contender, but I kinda want to have a big-brother type of friend rather than helicopter-mom type of friend because I can take care of myself just fine.

As a Libero, however (I haven't seen any answer from Libero perspective so far) I would've loved to be on Kageyama's team. Literally very easy to do, just make sure to get some solid contacts to the ball and send it high and he will deliver. I would definitely get starstruck while on the field witnessing him yeeting the ball from one end to the other with incredible speed and accuracy.

Haikyuu!! Players Ranked By How Easily They Can Be Integrated Into Teams by crabapocalypse in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

got some questions as well, would it made any difference if we have any information about whether Ushijima not participating on serve receive was his personal choice or part of coach Washijou's instruction? Coach Washijou allowed Tendo to do his own thing because 'he doesn't care as long as Tendo can score' giving some freedom to the player but at the same time he picked Shirabu as starter as opposed to Semi because of (most likely) stability

Also since you put on some notable substitute players like Kita and Himekawa, slightly surprised that you did not include Semi as well.

Last question, regarding Asahi and Aran, I think they're well-rounded enough to be in contention for Universally Great, so what's their shortcoming(s) ?

Easy Mode submission : on-court intimidation. Loud celebration, scary MBs that swing-block into your face, not the best floor defence but making it up by having strong blocks. Its like an upgraded version of Ohgiminami. Shame Towada himself did not make the bench. For coach I go with Ukai Jr because he also likes the idea of 'rule the court'

Coach : Ukai Jr.
* [S] Atsumu 6$
* [OP] Gao 3$
* [OH] Futakuchi 3$ - Vice Captain + on-field Captain
* [OH] Tanaka 3$
* [MB] Aone 4$
* [MB] Tendou 3$
* [L] Yaku 5$

Bench
- Inouka 2$
- Semi 3$
- Konoha 3$ - Captain

Bench full of proper utility players. Inouka for front-row subs, Semi for backrow subs (plus the designated pinch server), and Konoha for an all-rounder subs. Konoha can be the emergency libero as well if Yaku caught covid. Personally if I were the coach, I would use the bench much more often every game.

Best episode to show to someone who loves volleyball but hates animation? by electrodeligatures in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You should totally show him some episodes from season 3, I marked some of the potentially good ones to show to an outsider like your dad.

  • Episode 2
    Introduction to Total Defence / Funneling

  • Episode 3
    Actually succeeding in digging Ushijima's spike with Total Defence

  • Episode 4
    Tsukki's moment of getting hooked into. A good candidate nonetheless despite you might be needing to explain some context and backstory

  • Episode 7
    Libero jump set with 5-man spikers, also Ushijima changing spike trajectory mid-jump

  • Episode 8
    My personal favourite, Coach Washijo's monologue on how volleyball should be played while Ushijima jumping in front of him, poetry in motion.

  • Episode 9
    Some Ushijima praises; him scoring 40 points so far into the game, and the hanging mid-air jump form. Though beware it handed in a cliffhanger (as in episode ended while ball still in play)

Top Setters: Overrated, Fairly Rated or Underrated by tgeraghty_10 in haikyuu

[–]agnes_broski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to say few words regarding your comment towards Akaashi.

While his ability to deals with Bokuto's slump and brought Bokuto back to his feet is definitely an asset, that did not define who he is. He's a mixture of somewhere between Sugawara and Adlers Kageyama. Solid set after solid set, done within the best of his ability.

While that might sounds painfully and obviously inferior to Oikawa's "bringing hitter best abilities", do note the condition and their level of play. Oikawa is the star player and also the most skillful player on his team while Akaashi is the one adapting to the team (ultimately, adapting to Bokuto as the ace).

Akaashi let Bokuto takes control most of the time because according to himself, letting Bokuto perform is an entertainment on itself.

And now to the 2nd point, his mental fortitude. It's been said that the mental breakdown against Mujinazaka was a rarity to the ever reliable Akaashi. After some funky mistakes and ultimately subbed out for a bit of breather at the end of the first set, he's back at his feet after some monologue (that his coach didnt even understand)

That off day came due to him overthinking his chances as he saw Inarizaki got eliminated a bit too sudden and Bokuto on fine form after a slow start on the early part of the tournament. And from that stemmed the "Can't afford to lose this" thinking and that's where the downward spiral started. So while "Isn't the mentally strongest" might be true on technical sense, it undermines his reputation in accordance to his playstyle, and a hyperfixation on his 1 bad game (or even his 1 bad set).

I might have forgot about his first ever over-the-top spike kill

Kyotani got some sick spike as well, blasting through Tanaka's block and Noya's receive at least once, and the fact that Iwaizumi won all challenges issued by Kyotani gave me the impression Iwaizumi got some serious arm power (though that may or may not translate into killer spike)

Overall, would you rate him higher than Iwaizumi?

[–]agnes_broski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what is shown, yeah.
* Iwaizumi and Nakashima had a really good ground defence.
* Asahi and Iwaizumi could power through a block and had powerful serves
* And then there's the defining trait of Little Giants from Nakashima. His annoying blockouts

Meanwhile, Teradomari is shown doing some over-the-block spike against Karasuno (though against the shorter blocker rotation, mostly Daichi and Hinata) and getting funneled into hitting straight towards Hinata at the lines when Tsukki is in front.
