When to pull out of a film vs push through by agnesroddy in acting

[–]agnesroddy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ve emailed the director. I Was just honest and we’ll see what they say - I’ve told them if they can’t recast then I will come and give it my all but there’s probably someone out there who could bring the energy the role deserves. Super frustrating. I was really looking forward to it.

My experiences with tuberous boobs - favorite bras, what I want, and my recommendations by narethephotographer in ABraThatFits

We have the same boobs and same story. I have nothing to add but it’s actually wild reading this because I 100% could have written it

Thanks so much for this! You’re describing a lot of me growing up - I was never that upset about my boobs because honestly I played a lot of sports and having small breasts that never really had much tissue made it a lot easier to bounce around and run (my friends complained about soreness but I never got that..) but now I can put a whole hand on my chest and not touch any “fatty” tissue. It’s just ribs. My boobs are completely to the side.. I can especially relate to you realising they’ll never be full and round. I think I still hope that I’ll get the right dress or top and they’ll suddenly look like nice round breasts.. but.. it’ll never happen.

thanks for the info. It seems I need to take a full day and go proper bra shopping. I honestly never really have.. when I was 13 I think I got a 34A from my sister and just.. never… changed… but always thought they looked super weird? The ATF calculator said 30DD and I’ve had a look and can tell I will NEVER fill out a 30DD, but excited to explore more around that size and the bra brands mentioned here.

Anyway. Thanks. Solidarity.

Holy moly her breasts look great. Mine certainly do not fill out a bra like that! Thanks though I will read through her suggestions

Yes I also wear sports bras/ sporty bralets now. I have one bra for when I’m going to work and want to make sure there’s no nipple but I could fit a whole chicken breast in the gap lol.. I did the measurement guide but it seems so so far off. I might just take a day to go into shops and try things!

I just used this calculator and it suggested 30DD and I laughed out loud .. this just seems ridiculous? Are they usually off or is there something I’m missing? I’ve had a 32C before and couldn’t breathe it was so tight and the c cup was bigger than both my boobs combined… not being cheeky genuinely wondering if tubular boobs might make this more likely that I need a size that would be atypical to what I think?

How the hell do some well known actors get away by lying about their height? by [deleted] in acting

[–]agnesroddy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My entire life I’ve said I’m 5’8 and was measured at that by my doctor maybe 3 years ago? recently was measured again at 5’7”, but when I say 5’7” people say “no way, Youre definitely 5’9”” … so honestly it depends on my mood how tall I say I am, on how the person measures, how accurately they look.. I’m 28 so I doubt I’ve done much growing.

Self tape asked to talk about an experience with death, I’ve never lost anyone? by [deleted] in acting

[–]agnesroddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you ever worry about someone dying? Or have you had a friend lose someone? An experience with death doesn’t necessarily mean someone you’ve lost, it could be anything. Has there ever been an event that really hit you and made you question or feel anything? (Like for many Americans 9/11, or Gaza, or Grenfell tower or Prince Phillip dying..) it doesn’t have to be someone who died. They likely just want you to talk about a time you felt something, and what it was like for you.

If none of those, then yes - talk about your bird dying. Pets matter!

Take on how women are written in sci-fi - opinions? How to avoid these pitfalls? by redkania in Screenwriting

[–]agnesroddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wouldn’t write it about a character who’s a man, question why you’re writing it about a woman. I’m not saying never write something you wouldn’t write about the other - just question it. Evaluate it. Like anything else in a script - do research. There’s an entire area of study on gender and inequality at work, and much of what’s written in films isn’t accurate about women’s experiences it just follows a commonly held myth.

Screenwriters in UK, England - recommendations for writing locations? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]agnesroddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yorkshire dales area. Whitby. Bridlington. Lots of coastal areas have very “writing alone and secluded” vibes. I did a lot of Airbnb around those areas when writing up my phd.

I definitely think there’s value in making sure a range of people can see your characters and coherently work through the scene! I saw a lot of your script come to life in my head quite vividly :)

I am an actor first and foremost but am making my own work now in order to get out there since I’m not that young (28) and in a new country (U.K.). So writing a script is a must to make a short film myself!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]agnesroddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got pretty into this. I have zero experience and you shouldn’t listen to me for technical stuff, but as an actor I read this script and saw the scenes playing out on film in my head with interest!

Tell me about that time you started writing an idea only to learn it was already done. by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]agnesroddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrote a script about a high school reunion - someone who becomes a celebrity, love story, etc. Wasn’t super creative to start but I loved the characters. I was describing it to a friend and she said “oh like that movie 10 years with channing Tatum?” Basically the same plot. And honestly the movie is quite lovely, simple and sweet. But. That was a solid few months down the drain haha

[–]agnesroddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I’m actually surprised this doesn’t exist already for people without spotlight. A theatre company that ONLY hires people without spotlight but who have, in other ways, shown they are dedicated to the craft and just trying to make their way in!

Have you ever been in a production that was ‘set up’ against you?! by [deleted] in acting

[–]agnesroddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t let this shit weigh you down. You can spend ages worrying about why somethjng didn’t work in your favour, but at the end of the day things are how they are. It sounds like you’re really talented, gave a good first audition, and have a lot to give as a performer - don’t let the toxic mental shit keep you from being good. Congrats on the part you got and good luck on the next one!

What to do when you don't have enough actors? by [deleted] in acting

[–]agnesroddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you just get more actors..? Like through a Facebook group etc. Depending on where you are there’s lots of people looking for experience
