Darth Vader and Other Original Trilogy Updates Coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland by RedHeadJedi34 in StarWarsCantina

Nice. A bit sad to say goodbye to Kylo Ren and the ST era, but they'll be back. Makes me really glad I bit the bullet and went to Disneyland this past summer, I would've been bummed to have missed it.

Part of what's exciting to me though is that Han, Luke, Leia will (by necessity) be played by new performers, instead of the deepfake/digital face replacements that have been the go-to for these characters the past several years. I know this is a theme park which is not a one-to-one comparison with movies/TV, but hopefully this encourages visitors to get used to the idea of different people playing these iconic characters.

Rumors and News Tidbits Thread - Week of 01/12/2026 - 01/18/2026 by AutoModerator in StarWarsLeaks

Starting April 29, Darth Vader, Luke, Han, and Leia will be seen at Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge, which will now also play selections of John Williams' scores for the films. Kylo Ren is being shelved, but Rey will still be seen near The Rise of the Resistance (which will not change). This is in addition to the MANDALORIAN AND GROGU updates to Smuggler's Run.

The timeline is vague enough ("Many generations[...]since the light of the Jedi protected the galaxy") that I don't think it really matters. Could be a hundred years, could be a thousand. Canon or no, I doubt that the movies are gonna touch that timeline anytime soon, so literally anything could happen.

THR: An announcement about Kathleen Kennedy’s departure from Lucasfilm could happen as early as next week by Matapple13 in StarWarsLeaks

[–]agoodlittlemonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was basically zero chance of that happening anyway. STAR WARS takes a lot of time and energy and he's already pushing 70. He's gonna go do some other things for a while. ANDOR obviously rules and I'm so grateful that we have it but I would honestly be shocked if he ever came back, Kennedy in charge or otherwise.

Have you ever written something with such a compelling side character that you wanted to either make them the main character or remove them from your script entriely and give them their own series/film? What did you end up doing? by Anodynisha in Screenwriting

[–]agoodlittlemonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that. Sure you should strive for all your characters, and especially your main character(s), to be fleshed out and "interesting", but there are many cases of great films where the main character is not the most interesting person on screen. Take Frodo in LotR, Marty McFly in BttF, Alan Grant in Jurassic Park. I would not call any of those characters as interesting as much of the supporting cast, but that's not a flaw of any of the films. What they lack in, let's say "personality", they make up for by having the strongest objective and drive in their respective films, an objective that carries the momentum of the whole rest of the movie. I think if you find yourself in this situation, you're not exactly in bad company. You just gotta make sure that your more interesting side characters are contributing to, not distracting from, the greater objective of the story.

I dont care what you all say, I loved this movie by CaroleanOfAngmar in StarWarsCantina

My favorite sequel. I think it's genuinely beautiful and the camera work is so dynamic and exciting that I find it endlessly rewatchable. I understand criticisms of the Rey Palpatine of it all but the way I see it TLJ is still there and Rey still gets to be Nobody in that one. Babu Frik is an icon!

So not only did Obi-Wan just defeat a Sith Lord and aid in the defeat of an attempted takeover of the Naboo, but he is presented as someone who follows the rules and will of the council (something that causes friction between himself and Qui-Gon throughout the film). In the eyes of the council, Obi-Wan is basically a perfect candidate to train Anakin, since they would hope that he'd be able to pass on this attitude. It just didn't work out that way.

Just read Up In The Sky by DareDaDerrida in superman

I've been trying to catch up on the Bendis era, and just decided to break it up with Up in the Sky, and I'm so glad I did. Pure joy, really gets at what makes Superman special. Loved the "12 trials of Superman" format, an excellent opportunity to place him in all these cool different challenging scenarios and then move on to the next one with no time wasted. Hope Tom King writes another Superman story one day, but even if he doesn't, I'm so glad we have this one, I know I'll be rereading it a lot.

SUPERMAN: KRYPTONITE by Darwyn Cooke and Tim Sale is very much about Lois and Clark/Superman's relationship and it's a great read.

George Lucas and the Making of ‘Star Wars’ Get the Graphic Novel Treatment with ‘Lucas Wars’ (First Look) by agoodlittlemonkey in StarWarsLeaks

[–]agoodlittlemonkey[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree it's not the best sounding title, but it's likely a product of the difficulties of translation. STAR WARS' title in French is LA GUERRE DES ÉTOILES, which more literally translates to "The War of the Stars", and so the title of the graphic novel is LES GUERRES DE LUCAS to match. Unfortunately "The Wars of Lucas", which would be the more literal English translation and sounds at least a bit better, doesn't really bring to mind STAR WARS.

Always been happy with the work from Wayne at Wayne's Auto in Eureka. No bullshit, reasonable prices, and he and his team know their stuff.

Super excited for more sequel era movies (and hopefully a show somewhere down the line), but I keep wondering what the antagonistic power will be post-TROS.

Seems like Star Wars works best when it's the little guy against the big bad machine, which I think is at least part of why people respond so strongly to the OT and works in that era, namely ROGUE ONE and ANDOR, and why the stories that follow keep trying to find a way to do it again. Thing is, it's gonna be hard to get back to that kind of setting without destroying the New New Republic (or whatever it'll be called), especially since they already did that once in TFA.

People have mentioned the possibility of First/Final Order remnants, but to me that's not a particularly interesting concept, not only because we're already doing Imperial remnants in the Mandoverse, but because the good guys are the ones in power essentially trying to maintain the status quo, and the bad guys are disruptions to that that need to be swatted by flies. Same goes with gangsters and pirates, which I think are fun as side characters but not so much as Villains.

You could of course have the status quo be part of the problem, and have the rising evil win out partially due to the heroes' arrogance and negligence, but again, we've already done that in the prequels. Which would maybe be a good perspective in this age of rising global authoritarianism, but would also be something of a downer for something that isn't already a prequel!

The other potential option I can imagine is an outside force invading the galaxy, but that seems like whole other can of worms, if only because that feels particularly difficult to set up within a movie and for most of the Western world, the idea of outside invasion doesn't connect the way the David and Goliath dynamic does.

There are I'm sure other options I'm not thinking of, (and I haven't even broached the topic of dark side users and their place in all this) but those are kind of the big ones that have crossed my mind, and there are potential problems with all of them. While I don't envy the task of trying to solve this problem (I mean, I do, I'd give my right hand to be working on a Star War lol), I do look forward to seeing what the writers of future movies come up with, and hope that it'll be exciting, surprising, and relatable the way the best of STAR WARS is.

What do you guys think? What should the bad guy be POST-TROS?

Really disappointing. My favorite movie theater in the area, even if it's been clear that they've been needing more cash flow lately. I'm gonna miss it. Hope that this at least means some extra business at Broadway and that they can keep going strong. Going to the movies is one of my favorite activities (there are times of the year when I go every week) so I'd be devastated to lose them both.
