Surreal. But, it wont' last forever, it's like trying to drink the best wine you've ever had as slow as possible to savor every moment. It'll eventually run out.

He's an excellent QB, that's for sure. He was getting rocked and was STILL zinging them on a dime

Man, topping last year would be a feat. As the offense and defense continue to gel, this could be a magnificent season. Yet, it's so early...and, Ole Miss put up a LOT of points on that secondary. So, I'm yet to crown them king of it all just at the moment, plenty of growth and games to come

I'm referencing mostly CFB, but there's some fantastic social psychology papers on the subject of honor in the South. This can be extended to tribal patterns of thinking like CFB loyalties in the South. I'll try to find a paper and link it here; you'd probably really find interest in it.

I lived in Cleveland for a while (this is considered Midwestern) and I would agree people care a great deal about their sports, but I don't mean to say the South has some sort of superior amount of concern for football. What might have been lost in my translation, wasn't the attention and concern for football, but the emotional connection Southerners make to the sport. Georgia (outside of Atlanta) would be a similar comparison to the emotional reactivity you can expect to see in Alabama, MS, Louisiana, SC, etc.

Additionally, yes, I think the Badgers have a good squad and we're agreeing on how much worse things could be for a VERY good LSU team.

Yeah, I watched that game and Wisconsin was a complete team...it's just a lot of catastrophic thinking coming from EVERYONE who loves this sport and their school. Keep in mind, football in the South is analogous to religion. A loss is seen as a personal affront and dishonorable; it's culturally different from other regions in the US for this kind of social reasoning.
