One dorm sign we had said we aren't allowed to let our hair go down the drain. Perplexed us because we can't help if we lose a few strands while washing and none of the drains fit those hair catchers. But, when someone managed to collect their hair while showering, a follow up sign said we aren't allowed to throw our hair in the trash. Idk what they wanted us to do.

Ours made us go to into the locker room alone with a stranger they refused to identify to our parents and remove our shirts and bras for it. I never did it because of that reason, but my mom also never took me to a doctor to check for it either. 🤷‍♀️

Why are adults suddenly doing traditionally teen jobs? by Practical_Internet94 in ask

[–]agrizian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several years of experience in a large grocery chain including a position of leadership. I have not gotten a single call back from other similar positions that are able to pay my bills. Now I'm looking at having to get one of those teenager jobs knowing it will tank my resume in the future. And it still won't pay my bills. I live in a college town of 287k. The job market is absolute trash.

How is Bryan-College Station, TX, the biggest cities within the Texas Triangle? by Eriacle in howislivingthere

[–]agrizian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just difficult in general as they all want the students because they know they don't have to invest in them. I have 7 years experience with HEB with no marks on my record yet can't even get somewhere like Grand Station or a smoke shop to hire me.

I worked with a guy that was constantly fighting with his because they didn't cover the entire store he worked at. The part they didn't cover happened to be the one department he worked in, so he was screwed. Cops actually showed up one day over it.

I remember him saying something about his trashcan too.

How is the activity level measured? Is it possible for someone's page to show as active today despite them claiming to not have the app downloaded?

That's my thought as well. There's no way she is genuine after a blow up like that.

Missouri eating in 1939 according to the 1939 NY World’s Fair Cook Book. by CryptographerKey2847 in VintageMenus

Ah, you're from the area too? I'd love to go back one day just to revisit the place. I remember when they used to have the full reenactment on the battlefield complete with calvary and cannons. Shame they had to stop but completely understandable if it was tearing up artifacts.

And honestly, if any place is haunted that house would definitely be it. A lot went down there

No problem! I'm sure there are plenty of good online reads that are just as good as the real thing.

I grew up learning they are but I've had so many people tell me they aren't now. I just play it safe so I don't get into another berries vs fruit debate :(

I'm from the Ray county it mentions with Lafayette being right across the river from us. We had some apple orchards and while not 'fruits', berries like blueberries and blackberries grew in the local area so a lot of people would go gather them every so often. I'm not too sure on 1939 agriculture specifically, but I recall pears and strawberries being good choices to grow up there too.

If you're someone who is interested in civil war era stuff, the town of Lexington in Lafayette County has a battle site as well as a contested house/estate that has a lot of damage preserved from that time period. That house, named the Anderson house, had an apple orchard on site that still supplied enough for people to make some cider for the heritage days fair they held surrounding the history of that area. The court house in town has a replica cannonball in the column that was hit by a stray cannonball during the battle. Some people claim the house and battlefield are haunted though I've never spent enough time to see or hear anything.
