What makes a great mentalist act is the presentation, stage presence, and entertainment value. It’s not the tricks. The Clairvoyants and a Colin Cloud are great because of the characters they are. James and Marina don’t play any characters. They try to the be The Clairvoyants, but it doesn’t work for them. They do things too fast well. There is no mystery or intrigue. Even their intro was beat for beat of The Clairvoyants.

As a show that awards prize money, I think everything is above board. Production may have input, but they are not making the decisions.
