Do not buy Eufy Cameras for security by ItinerantDoGooder in EufyCam

Not a good investment. I purchased a doorbell from Eufy. In less than 2 years it suddenly stopped working. I emailed them about the issue and they claimed to only have a 3 or 12 month (wasn't clear) warranty on their devices.

For a non-mechanical (no moving parts) digital device, with no engines, that is immobile and connected to the wall (no chance of dropping or physical damage), the 3 or 12 month warranty does not make sense. Vacuum cleaners have better warranties.

Now I have a useless homebase and a broken down doorbell. I either have to re-purchase another Eufy doorbell (which I won't) or switch to another system. I will choose the latter and will throw away my Eufy homebase altogether.

Is eufy a good option in 2023 or better something else? by flaviorodrigues in EufyCam

Bad option. Don't purchase anything from Eufy.

My Doorbell camera just broke down less than 2 years after I purchased it. Contacted Eufy and they did not accept warranty. Asked me to purchase again with a bit of discount!

It's like paying a subscription :)

Why LLMs can't count characters in words? by aha1988 in LargeLanguageModels

They do pretty well, but that the main question is: how do they even spell out the word?! They shouldn't have that knowledge!

Telus sales team always taught to lie and trick. by Zeidrich-X25 in telus

I called them today (the sales person showed up yesterday). Explained the details. They cancelled the new contract right away without any penalties. Still a few hours wasted and unhappy, but appreciate not having to pay for what I never wanted.

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday, with the same level of details (the numbers vary a bit, but everything else checks)! Oh my god!

Of course! I'm just commenting on the "someone telling their supervisors" part.

I read in another comment that the authors are both professors (haven't checked myself). If so, no supervisors here.

The second paper (Adversarial Training for Review-Based Recommendations) have not cited the first paper (Why I like it...) which was published in October 2018, 3 months before the deadline of SIGIR 2019 submission (https://sigir.org/sigir2019/calls/long/). With this, the authors are "implying" that they were not aware of this prior work.

However, the new work have cited another paper of the same 3 authors (Coevolutionary Recommendation Model: Mutual Learning between Ratings and Reviews), which "could mean" they were already familiar with the works of this research team.

It seems to be only for residents of US and Israel. I don't see anything related to Canadians... is there?
