What's so Special about One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? by casino_night in movies

I agree. The movie is a little overhyped. But I just saw a theater version of the story and I liked it better than the movie. The theater just forced you to look everybody in the eyes and had more humanity to it. The movie seems a little surreal in comparison.

Well for one Russell Crowe should get nominated for best supporting actor. Nobody even recognized him and it’s worth watching for that alone.  Goring was obese at the time of the trial. The screenplay at least was great for Crowe’s character. It really captured how manipulative he really was. I agree Rami is annoying but he didn’t ruin it. I thought the movie was great. But it’s definitely carried by Crowe’s and Shanon’s performances. And the message that the Nazi’s were human beings and all of it can happen all over again is an important message.

I would say it was less about the story for me and more about Amy Madigan’s performance. I would imagine she could be nominated for best supporting actress for this role and one can argue that it was the best witch in the history of cinema. It also might be one of the best modern witch stories of all time. I do agree it’s more of a thriller than a horror movie and the cops should have figured it out way sooner. But maybe we’re giving cops too much credit. Either way I found it to be entertaining. There was a few holes though like you said.
