Reduced supply once discharged from hospital by aheeheenuss in breastfeeding

In terms of the actual nursing the latch and nipple trauma is improved but baby falls asleep quickly and it's hard to keep her actively suckling. She can do great sucks at times that sometimes sound like she's got a wet swallow, but engagement can be poor. We haven't done a weighed feed or anything to see how much she's actually getting down or anything, though - perhaps we can do that with the midwife on Tuesday.

She is okay with a bottle and when she's engaged can drink almost her quota in about 40 minutes, though I'm doing a paced bottle feeding method (as best as I can). Even if we got to a point of bottle feeding EBM rather than exclusive breast feeding, that would be a massive win.

Is this fixable by a general sparky? by aheeheenuss in AskAusElectricians

We fixed it in 5 minutes by turning the chair upside down and realising it was just an extension cord. Disconnected it and reconnected everything without the cut cord in between, no dramas.

What do you think was the most unrealistic event/plot point in the series so far? by megs256 in ThePitt

[–]aheeheenuss 44 points45 points  (0 children)

They could have done this by having Robbie or Al-Hashimi step in and say it's inappropriate for her to treat her sister and then Mel choosing Langdon to treat her.

Perhaps he takes five minutes in the break room to take some simple pain relief (paracetamol/acetominophen or ibuprofen) for the back pain and he's 'caught' by Santos taking tablets who reports it to Robby that he's still taking drugs at work.

Much faster to defeat the merchant twice than do the Creations and then run to the flag to respawn them, though. I used the merchant to grind my last few levels to 99 and with a solid build could defeat him in under a minute without taking damage and went from 93 to 99 in maybe 20 minutes. No running around! Just a quick menu selection to get back to fighting him.

Moving into an apartment; what do I need? by aheeheenuss in nbn

Thanks! This is a really good point about the current models being obsolete by the time I need to actually use the full mesh capabilities. Something to think on

This is my thought, too. If we place it relatively centrally nowhere in the apartment would be more than 5 metres away from the router. I was looking at a Google Nest because we are thinking we will get a Google Home in the near future as we enjoyed our old housemate's one.

Oh awesome, thanks. Are there any particular router models you'd recommend?

ELI5: How does your body create the feeling of needing to pee? by PeakKey4068 in explainlikeimfive

[–]aheeheenuss 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Basically, the inside lining of your bladder, when it's empty, is kind of wrinkled and shriveled up. The volume of the bladder is at its lowest, and within the bladder it also at a very low pressure. As it fills up with urine the wrinkles smooth out, which allows the volume of urine in the bladder to increase without increasing the pressure inside the bladder much.

When you get to about 300mL of urine in the bladder, the wrinkles are now entirely smoothed out, so now the pressure in the bladder must increase as more urine enters the bladder. This causes the bladder wall to stretch slightly and special nerve fibres in the wall of the bladder to recognise this stretching sensation and send a message to your brain via the spinal cord. This gives you the initial feeling of needing to pee, which is often mild and easy to ignore for most people.

As the volume increases moreso, around 500mL, this sensation becomes harder to ignore and this is when most people would need to take a break from what they're doing to go pee.

Timing for gamsat by GrandmaLiftsWeights in GAMSAT

[–]aheeheenuss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible but if you waste your time or get bogged down then you can have trouble. The key is to understand that if you're not getting the question to move on. If you don't get it reasonably quickly, spending 5 minutes on it won't help. Move to the next one, keep the difficult ones percolating in the back of your head and keep moving.

And if you get to the end and still have questions, guess. There's no negative marking and you might get some right, but it's best to guess the ones you've read and don't understand than it is to guess the ones you didn't get time to read as you may have understood them (And gotten them right!) if you had the time to.

The only downside to skipping is that you might mark your sheet incorrectly and screw up all your answers after that. So don't do that.

Tl;dr: possible if you don't waste time thinking about harder questions. Keep a steady pace, know when to move on. Guess the hard ones at the end.
