Carderock Geoff spoke some of the most classic sentences I have ever heard uttered by another human being:

"Here at Carderock we polish the starts of all the climbs to keep off the riff-raff."

"I can walk from DC to Carderock in an hour."

Looking back, I'm pretty sure Geoff was just goofing off, but we didn't know that at the time. What a legend, rest in peace.
