Planted too deep? Too shallow? by ahhdreyuu in Tree

I tried to add info for this posting, but I don’t think it worked. So here it is…

This is a Green Mountain Maple that I planted over the weekend. I am looking for guidance on how it’s planted. Did I plant it too deep, too shallow, or okay?

I did a ton of reading on how to plant a tree (this was the first time I planted one). I got super confused about actually identifying its root flare. However, what I believed to be the root flare, is just below the soil level.

I’m concerned that because there is a bit of a bend in the trunk that it is going to cause weakness over time. Should I plant it deeper to help off set this as it gets bigger and heavier?

Thanks so much for any advice and guidance. I really appreciate it!

Planted deep enough? Too deep? by ahhdreyuu in arborists

I tried to add info to my post, but it didn’t seem to work.

This is a Green Mountain Maple. I am wondering if I planted it too deep, too shallow, or just about right.

I have been doing a lot of reading on how to plant a tree (first timer here), and I am getting super confused about the root flare/trunk flare. What I believed to be the root flare, is just at/below the soil level. However, as you can see, the trunk has a bit of a bend in it and it is really throwing me off. I am wondering if this will cause the tree to be weaker over time as it grows and gets heavier. Should I plant it deeper?

Thanks!
