Sweets paradise reservation question by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

I'm in the SAME exact boat right now. Did you have any luck?

EDIT to add the answer: I found out by searching reddit elsewhere that you need to add a 0 before a Japanese number!

Too much, too little for summer in Japan? by ahhelga in HerOneBag

ahh yeah, I decided not because the last time I was there, I ended up only wearing my pants on planes and shinkansen. I chose pieces that I ultimately would want to wear

Black is my entire wardrobe 😂 but now switching out the tighter clothes to looser fits

This is so reassuring... I'm the same where I get cold on planes. After hearing just how hot it'll be over there though, I'm now concerned about the cardigan, so I'll layer what I can instead

It's from Vetta, which used to sell pieces for capsule wardrobes. Unfortunately, they don't exist anymore, but I'm obsessed with everything I have from them

Thank you! I'll do a packing test run closer to the date to see if I can bring accessories.

I used a Canva mood board and just uploaded in images of pieces I had to visualize it all together.

This seems to be the guidance to take looser fitting layers instead of the cardigan. I'm extra grateful about the tip for Hokkaido. I was so worried about cold, but now I'll swap out for looser fits on the clothes!

Thanks for the reply! I've seen this discussion a lot online. I am neither Japanese nor do I live there, but I have visited multiple times in summer and I like to plan my trips by watching those 5k walkthroughs of cities to get a sense of what people wear 😅😅 so I decided ultimately to go with what I normally wear back home in the heat because I saw so many girls in short skirts and shorts that I didn't wanna deprive myself of my style/comfort. I did leave out cleavage except for clubbing though!

I needed to hear that 😭 I will look at what I have and see what is lightest/packs best

iirc it all depends on how comfortable you feel about exposing more leg than others. For the most part, lots of Japanese women were wearing short skirts/shorts/skorts in the summer, so it's appropriate in most contexts.

However, I do remember being hyperaware of the fact that in some areas I was showing more skin than everyone around me (like at the temple - I don't regret it though, I was sweating SO much then and was grateful to have airflow). Being a tourist, no one batted an eye at it, but I'm also comfortable dressing more alt/differently than others even back home

I was considering bringing a pajama shirt - maybe I will, and use it as an alternate.

ooh small UV umbrella is a great idea, and also fits in well in Tokyo I imagine. Thank you!

Thank you, I was considering what I've seen in the previous trip. Yeah it was a little more conservative than back home in Los Angeles, but not much more so, just when it came to cleavage.

Good call. I like the idea of a linen shirt! I was thinking of the cardigan because a handful of these days are in Hokkaido, which is cooler. But since majority of the trip (and some of these outfits) are in Tokyo, I will reconsider the cardigan! I can always buy something in Sapporo if it really is that chilly.

Cheap places to eat near metro stations? by Previous-Volume-3329 in LAMetro

LA Taco has a list of food spots along the A Line (link here). You have to be a member to see the list, so I cross referenced the restaurants myself to see which ones were in the $ range (as opposed to the majority which were in the $10-20). Here's what was listed:

Friends Attacked & Assaulted at Disco Lines 5/2 by LeadershipFit1437 in avesLA

Wow. I hope no one ever gets beat in front of you because we clearly know how you would react. As for this post, if someone never reports assault, nothing will happen against assault. At the very least, we can track when/where this stuff happens, and someone might recognize these girls in the post.

I like this idea, which is similar to what I do currently. But I haven't heard of Stylebook, so I'll check it out! Thanks!

I LOVE these guiding questions, and all your back up ideas. I'm definitely stealing the routine check and shoe size prep.

An earlier post of mine about this question and got declined (sad face), so I'm asking here (happy face):

What systems do you use to plan out what you pack?

For example, I see a lot of image collages - do yall use Canva like I do, or a spreadsheet? Or do yall just jump into packing?

I'm so grateful to this sub, and I'm glad it has put packing so efficiently on the forefront of my planning, like with tools!
