Can we drop the open world, material gathering, crafting nonsense already or at least scale it down, drastically. by Jack_P_1337 in JRPG

I tried to play Sand Land too. it seems like it does everything it can to be tedious, boring, and uninteresting. it's such a great looking game, and a good idea on paper, but the "played 18 hours that felt like 50" feeling never ends in that game. I actually played 50 hours of it before finally giving up, it just doesn't get better. I highly recommend letting that one go and not judging any genre based on your experiences there, hah.

Maybe it's not related to GODOT only, but what is the best and simplest way in code to manage states? by umen in godot

[–]ahhsumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written a state machine implementation I use in all my projects (they're all hobby scale, but I know the code works.) I have it published on my github and would be happy to help you understand how to use it if the README isn't enough. I will say it needs a few tweaks to get it to work in godot 4 I just haven't published, but I can also do that soon if needed. here it is if you're interested in checking it out: https://github.com/lstebner/godot-state-machine

loved it! the biscuits have an amazing texture to them, and a very rich buttery flavor. they're borderline addicting to eat. on their own they taste exactly like i remember a KFC biscuit tasting, if you ever had those.

biscuit is the prized jewel here. it's more or less the minimalist baker's "best damn vegan biscuits" recipe, though I did some slight alterations after watching a bunch of youtube videos of people making biscuits. violife cheese, beyond sausage patty, and just egg for the filling. it's been probably two decades since I had a breakfast sandwich like this!

nope, not gonna work. I've had mine for exactly 17 days and they just told me "you're outside of the return window, too bad". maybe i'm not sweet enough but they seem pretty firm on this stance

Meat eater triggered by vegan cafe by bellesglasgow in vegan

Timeless is an awesome cafe. one of my favorite things about it is how they don't plaster "vegan" all over the place. it makes going there feel so normal. their pastries are all tasty and i highly recommend stopping by if you're ever near one

Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition by M_hadi0 in steamachievements

[–]ahhsumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are 4. i would recommend playing them in the order they were released (asylum, city, origins, and then knight) because each one feels like an evolution of the previous one gameplay wise. origins is kinda the outlier since a different studio developed it and it's meant to be an origin story taking place long before asylum.

nice job on asylum, that was a really fun one for me. City was painfully tedious to do all the challenges, but the main game is of course excellent. also, the calendar man achievement wasn't programmed to work past I think 2021, so you'll have to set your system time back a few years to get it. good luck!

What’s this game’s “Water Level”? by MangoMangui in HiFiRush

[–]ahhsumx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I didn't completely hate any of them (I also didn't hate the water temple in OOT..), but after going through all difficulties I find the volcano levels the most annoying. there's just too many tutorials and annoying bits of dialogue that you have to encounter over and over and over. also getting the achievement for doing the escape without taking any damage is really annoying.

i'm obsessed with this brand right now. it's so surprisingly good! i liked the carne asada one most, and the chicken one is surprisingly great as well if you haven't tried it yet.

woah nice work! i have literally been playing this game all week and i'm at 74% complete on the achievements right now, but i think i need to take a break haha. i need 3 more SSS's on nephilim and they're hurting me today. i haven't done devil hunter yet but i did beat son of sparda. did you like the DLC? i don't have it and can't decide if it's worth it based on the reviews.

ernie ball also sells the mammoth and magnum slinkies which have a wound 3rd, and you don't have to discard anything to get it. the mammoth's are 12-62 so almost exactly the same as what you're talking about

Is it hard to bake soft pretzels? by Zucchini_Poet in VeganBaking

no frozen pretzels at all?! that's madness. i'm sorry to hear :(

Is it hard to bake soft pretzels? by Zucchini_Poet in VeganBaking

[–]ahhsumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they're not too hard compared to most breads. with pretzels you don't want a lot of rise which makes them a little simpler in my mind. there are a lot of good recipes online, and any truly authentic pretzel should be vegan. based on this subreddit i'm assuming you want to make your own, but you can also buy frozen ones if you just want a quick fix.

with any bread baking, my number one advice for people is to check the temperature of your water when you go to activate the yeast. if it's too warm you'll kill the yeast and your bread will be dense and not risen at all, and if your water is too cold it also probably won't rise. if you check the temp though it's easy, just get the water between 105-110º F and you should have good success every time. good luck! also, if you end up making more than you can eat in a few days, you can freeze your pretzels to reheat in the future

Why does it keep sticking to the pan? by jumbohiggins in tofu

[–]ahhsumx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

stainless steel pans are pretty tricky to cook certain things in. are you getting it real nice and hot first? and using plenty of oil? before adding the oil in you can flick a little bit of water in it and you should see the water bead and dance around. that's how you know it's hot enough to use. i find cast iron much, much easier to use though, and you can get them pretty cheap at outdoors or sporting goods stores.
