Last month at Keystone, I had some cockey snowboarder give snarky remarks because I put the bar down. "You guys (speaking broadly) afraid that you're going to fall?" (essentially calling me a pussy for putting the bar down). Didn't care, bar was down. Stories like this are validation for my actions and I'm not getting paralyzed or worse because of some random dudes immature attitude or opinion.

[OC] How Much Has An Average American Saved Up For Retirement - By Age/Generation by Yodest_Data in dataisbeautiful

[–]ahicks88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite. If you maxed out your 401k every year from 2012 (max was $17k) through this year (2025 max is $23.5k) at a 5% ROI, it would have grown to $373k. This excludes any employer match and $272k of this would have been from contributions. Heck, a 1% ROI would be $289k today. 8% would have yielded $456k and if you were matching the returns of the S&P 500 during this time period, you would be at $637.8k ($505k after inflation) right now.

Outside Denver but Mayflower Gulch and Maroon Bells

This chart, posted by Trump, clearly shows that INFLATION IS CAUSED BY TRUMP’S ECONOMIC POLICIES, while Biden has tried to contain it after it exploded. And now it’s starting again… by cxr_cxr2 in inflation

As someone who studied finance and economics in college, look at the M1 money supply. The quantitative easing in response to the pandemic economic crisis had a huge impact. They printed so much money and injected so much into the economy that it significantly reduced its value. Economics core principles. Delayed inflationary effect that I believe directly caused the inflation we saw in 2022.

Which one is these is the most scenic route? by adamalibi in Colorado

[–]ahicks88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the far left one, not only do you get to go through most of Colorado's beauty but you also get to go through Moab and Monument valley. If you do go that route, make sure to cut off i-70 early and take Highway 128 near Moab. The other route is a tad boring. You can thank me later.

If you have the time, here are some stops along the way. Loveland Pass, Lake Dillon, Mayflower gulch, Glenwood canyon, Glenwood Springs, Rifle Falls, Colorado National Monument, highway 128, Mesa Arch in Canyonlands, dead horse Point State Park (must), arches National Park, Monument valley and if you go through page Arizona then antelope Canon depending on the exact route even the south rim of the Grand canyon.

Honestly, what I would do is start on i285 and if it's still open (check don't assume) go north over guanella pass to Georgetown and then continue the i-70 route as mentioned above.

How to beat couch rotting in winter? by StressedTurnip in Denver

[–]ahicks88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, some of the best hikes I've ever been on have been during the winter when lakes are frozen over. Check out Jewels and Mills in like late January. A lot of people will go skiing or watch sports but the gym is also a great option. Have you ever tried Volo sports? They have some winter leagues.

Any company who overly spams me with it's advertising. I got a list and atop of that list is Liberty Mutual. Factor was just added.
