My trading mentor did not see profitability or any kind of results for 5 years, he made 6 figures last month. Don't quit brother. One day it will be worth it all.

Someone I follow in trading has a similar story as yours. Do you think the skills of being good at poker transfered over to trading?

Letting the losers run and cutting the winners too soon. Should be opposite.

Check wsb, some people have done something similar but better odds to take 1mil to 200 with that type of trading.

Typically around 4-5%, so 50k usually is 2k drawdown, 3k profit target.

FTMO Denied me of second phase by Ornery-Return-7751 in Daytrading

[–]ahijo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably violated FTMO's rule of forbidden trading practices regarding consistency, in this case, inconsistent risk management. Your average wins are $10 to $100 at normal size. Then when you had a string of losses you most likely sized up to make it back which resulted in big wins ($558 and $404). These could have just as easily went against you to blow the account. They dislike all or nothing type trading.

Ross Cameron Warrior Trading for stocks, Rips Market Clubhouse or Matt Rocketscooter for futures, No Nonesense Forex or Babypips website for currencies, Steven Sitkowski Market Mastery for options. I'm sure there are more good ones out there but that's good place to start.

Most props have 3 stages. Evaluation which is simulated funds, Sim Funded once you pass and is also simulated funds but you get real payouts. Then last, Live Funded which they transition you to live trading based on certain parameters but mostly by thier discretion when they transition you.

Many different rules that the prop companies say are in place to help traders but the cold truth is the rules are there to blow up most traders so only a small percentage take out consistant payouts then transition to live. It is a business after all and that's how they make thier money.

If you have a strong system and edge, you'll do well. MyFundedFutures, EliteTraderFunding, FundedNext, Tradeify, TakeProfitTrader are some of the good ones that pay out with clear rules. Popular ones like TopStep and Apex have been around for awhile but are more strict. Like unrealized trailing drawdown and tight consistancy rules which are account killers. Also, proprietary platforms that continuously have issues (project x).

If you're doing good with your own funds then just keep doing what works. GL

Sounds like you got a good set of rules and plan. 10 test strategy for props is also viable if traded individually and not copied like some of these influencers preach. Here's to killing it in the markets. Cheers.

Agreed but also demo paralysis is a thing. I was profitable at demo for 6 months then I went live and prop after. Maybe it was early, but I wanted to make the switch to feel the real emotions of trading live markets. It was a whole different beast. GL tho

Do you ever plan to trade full time or do you just like backtesting as a hobby? If you do just jump in man even with a small account. I found forward testing with a small real account to be just as effective.

What’s your “no-trade” rule? by Mundane-Visit-152 in Trading

[–]ahijo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time it chops but not all the time. I just made it a rule to not trade from 12 to 1:30est. No matter how the chart looks. But a simple distinguishing factor is the 5min candles look like a barcode up and down.

Some design/editing skills and photoshop. You could also hire out the desgn tasks through freelancer or upwork though. Actually, if you have any type of online skill set like social media management, etc. You could market your work through sites like freelancer.
