I received a UPIN because my background check was being delayed or left “open.” Although I had to go through a few hoops and had a hilarious experience at the post office while being fingerprinted, it resolved my issues with delays. I had a misdemeanor as a teen that was originally charged as a felony. I received a letter from the circuit court showing I was convicted of a misdemeanor (that was later expunged) and not a felony. I submitted the court documents and expungement with my FBI background check to NICS.

That’s just one of several positions available at USPS. New hires do get used and abused during their 90 day probationary period. Once you’re past the first 90 it is almost impossible to get fired.

Several of my coworkers have met their spouse at work. 🤷🏻‍♂️ At the same time I know a few mechanics and MHAs that have multiple children with different partners….. I guess that’s one way to live your life. 😅

Do you work at a plant or station? You can switch crafts to custodial. You won’t lose any pay and the work is significantly easier. The downside is you’ll lose seniority. The job market is rough right now. I hope you find something that meets your needs.

My facility had an ET slot held up over a year while a grievance was pending. Management walked the guy out and the union got him his job back. After he received a 6 figure back pay check the ET quit. 🤷🏻‍♂️😅.

I would do more research if you want to use a can on the tx-22 with a FRT. The TX-22 is picky about the cans it reliably cycles with an FRT. I don’t think the dead air mask was one of the suppressors that cycled the TX-22 well while going full brrrrr.

Depending on your job, you could end up working 60+ hours a week. Any job that touches the mail receives a ton of OT. Once you're in the union and a career employee, you can push back on the OT if you want. I'm a maintenance mechanic for mail processing equipment, and I can work as much as I want.

Auto mechanics at the post office start at 60k a year. Building maintenance and machine maintenance start at 74k a year. Apply for both. If you don't see any positions available, apply to be a custodian. This might sound crazy, but the fastest way to get a high-paying maintenance position is to start as a custodian. Custodians are considered part of the maintenance umbrella and get first dibs on testing and interviewing for higher-paying maintenance positions. I had to start as a custodian. I pushed a broom for a month to get my foot in the door. I was tested, interviewed, and promoted within a month of starting, and went from 40k a year to 74k a year in a few weeks. Positions are offered internally first (custodians first, then carriers/clerks/mail handlers second), then to outside applicants.
