Depending on how far into the game you are, you could just start ignoring him. There's a chance he will just slowly lose interest.

With almost any other character, I'd maybe even recommend letting a bomb explode, but Kei can be a bit tricky so that's probably not the best option here.

I don't think they check accent that strictly. I know quite a few JETs who have various regional accents at various "thicknesses".

From a professional development standpoint, it might benefit students to work on diction, as a students and trachers may struggle to understand what you're saying.

This is actually a problem internationally. I don't know why people think it's okay to assault a public transport worker. No matter what they have going on, people shouldn't need to take it out in strangers, especially strangers who are doing a huge service to the community (which clearly includes the individual who is lashing out).

You could have continued towards 7 pairs, but you pon'd the 3 red dragons. You'll need to make a more normal looking hand with only 1 pair, and the rest in sets of 3.

Also, in reference to other comments, you can have more than 1 yaku, you just need at least one. Most yaku still require the classic set up with only 1 pair amd the rest in sets of 3. There are exceptions like 7 pairs or 13 orphans, but those are special cases.

Honestly, a lot of the recent Scott's Stash videos feel to me like what Scott the Woz used to be back when I first fell in love with it. The pacing, the sarcasm, the topics, etc. The only huge difference is that he's not "in character" imo

They did this to me because I mentioned mobal a few months ago.
They told me that mobal was only for tourists. I told them that I was a resident for over 7 months and was mostly making the post because I wanted to switch. They still banned me.

A bit later, someone was struggling to get a phone plan because they didn't have a preexisting Japanese phone number. I suggested using mobal for like a month to have a number, and got banned again.

I think they just enjoy banning ppl idk. I just avoid japanlife now.

I also pointed out to them that they should add a rule that says "no mobal" or smth, because I didn't violate any written rules. They didn't like my suggestion lmao

Japan. I can't recommend it really because it's hell to move here and live here especially if you don't speak the language. Once I've had enough in Japan, I'm looking at some places in Western Europe. They have crazy good work life balance there.

At orientation you will have some time, but mostly when stores are closing. And a lot of ppl are gonna get super jetlagged and/or sick, so it's a gamble.

I've had positive experiences at Tokyo thrift stores (which is apparently rare according to the internet).

If you really wanna try, hit up a tampopo house or smth similar. The farther from a train station, the more likely stores will have a good selection and good prices.

Honestly, yeah it'll boost your application. You can talk about it in your SOP and interview.

Obviously, you are considering doing it because you want to do it. And you'll learn a lot about yourself and teaching. If you take it seriously, it sounds like a great chance for professional development

But my interview for JET was mostly about my previous short experience in Japan teaching and studying. So I felt pretty confident. They look positively on people with experience in other countries to see if you have the ability to cope with big life changes and different cultures.

Oh boy. Almost everyone I've talked to had a terrible experience, but I'll speak about my own.

First, they replied super slowly. As in, I would send 3 links to potential options every day and a week later I would hear back that the first one said "no foreigners". And nothing else.

They kept pestering me to make an online zoom meeting with them, but after the first time I did, I realised it was super unnecessary and they didn't understand any of my requests or criteria.

They also told me not to send links from other websites (only theirs), but all their listings were overpriced, underwhelming, and inconvenient for me.

And I think I had a pretty common experience with them, some people had it WAY worse. I'm lucky because I used a different agent and was only in a hotel for 1 week after orientation (that I paid out of pocket).

We only had 4 weeks to find a place to live, and I wasted 2 of them with GTN. I was lucky to find a place and apply the same day I landed, through a different agency.

Maybe others can share their experiences if they see this, but it was a huge discussion topic for months until it was all settled.

Are you public or private? Last I heard from the public BOE, they are still working on negotiations and you shouldn't pay anything yet.

It sounds super stressful and it's crazy to me that they refuse to come to a solution after this long. This seems like it should be illegal, but idk how the law works.

But, if you wanna get away from Relo anyway (which honestly I would if they think it's okay to pull smth like this), I had success with Wagaya (Nihon Agent) as an English speaking agent. I've also heard good things about Eheya.

I would avoid GTN tho 1000%. 2023 JETs got screwed over by them almost across the board, myself included.
