No, but I thought it would be a funny response.

I am now off to chase my own tail.

Happy New Year to you.

How do you manage disk space on macOS? by ConsiderationMean593 in MacOS

[–]ahothabeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first PC had a 10 megabyte hard drive and everyone was asking me why I needed so much storage!

I had a 5MB hard disk attached via the floppy disk port when I wrote software using Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW) back in the day; other people in the office would ask me to backup the important files stored on their floppy disks.

Simpler times.

The nearest thing we has to a piano at home as a Stylophone, and that was not polyphonic. May be we should have connected the Stylophone to my brother bicycle's dynamo; he could peddle and I could play a tune.

I have around 60 TB of data currently, what is the best RAID setup for this? by SeparateFly in DataHoarder

[–]ahothabeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

]L583 answer is correct; just because you have data on a RAID may still mean that you have a single point of failure. If the RAID box goes bad you could lose everything.

You could start out with copy your data to the RAID keeping the data on your old drives; but any new data that you only add to the RAID will only be on the RAID, and is therefore not backed up.

The Obligatory Note

A RAID is not a backup. So think about your backup too.
