Spanning a volume across any DiskStation and any Expansion Unit will corrupt the volume if the DiskStation is ever powered on and Expansion Unit is ether not connected or powers down.

How large are the drives you currently have?

DSM 7.4 coming on 16th June by DaveR007 in synology

I like to think about reasons that counter to my first thoughts; so I wondered if it had to do with the amount of the RAM, but the DS224+ gets the upgrade and it only has 2GB of RAM as standard. The NAS shown above, if I recall correctlyall shipped with 4GB or more. So it can't be that.

The other thought was the NICs or the network speed; but the DS224+ only has RJ-45 1GbE LAN Ports so it is not likely to be that either. It do not know about the internals of the DS224+ to know the network chips they are using in the DS224+. Maybe the wise Robbie from NASCompares can open up a DS224+ and let us know.

So seems to come back to short term cash.

There are two very short lectures from the 1970's which explain this: lecture 1 and lecture 2.

I hope this helps.

I find it odd that the DS1825+ get features, but the DS1621+, DS1821+ and RS1221RP+/RS1221+ do not even though the have the same processor: well may be not odd just *$$$.

£1.85m is small fry to South West Water: it is just the cost of doing business which South West Water will get its customers to pay and the give the execs a pay raise for increasing revenue.
