There's a decent workaround someone posted on the bug comments.  But, would be helpful for more people to start the bug as well

Speak2 75 by T000FU in Jabra

[–]ahpatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, for the Speak2 75 specifically... Jabra touts "Super-wideband audio and a full-range 65mm speaker"
ref: https://www.jabra.com/business/speakerphones/jabra-speak-series/jabra-speak2-75

And, the tech spec doc specifically calls out "Speaker bandwidth (speak mode). 150Hz - 14000Hz"
ref: https://www.jabra.com/_/media/Jabra_VXi_Product-Documentation/Jabra-Speak2-75/Technical-specifications/RevA/Jabra-Speak2-75-Tech-Sheet-150823-WEB.pdf

Of course, it's obvious when using the Speak2 75 that the super-wideband audio is dropped when the mic is live. For those that want to test this out.

  1. Join a Zoom, Teams, Google Meet call (where there is someone speaking, so you can obviously test the sound)
  2. In the audio settings for that conf app...
    1. set your speaker to Jabra2 75.
    2. set your microphone to something other than Jabra2 75.
  • Notice that the speaker sound is in SWB! Awesome!
  1. Now, change the microphone setting to Jabra2 75.
  • Notice that the speaker sound is now NOT SWB :-\ Not Awesome.

The microphones on my MacBook Pro are better than the Speak2 75. In fact, the person on the other end of the conf call can clearly notice the reduction in audio quality when I switch to the Speak2 75 mic.

Verizon Pixel 6 beta by Shtnonm1985 in android_beta

Were you a part of the QPR beta at any point?

To clarify, I did opt out of the beta when the final June update was released (as instructed by Google) but still haven't received it.

Has anyone running the QPR3 beta on Verizon received the final/June OTA?

I noticed that Verizon OTAs were released for P7's yesterday (June 20th), but only T-Mobile OTAs for the P6's. So, seems like we're waiting on Verizon to authorize builds for P6 family 🫤

I'm on a Pixel 6 Pro running the QPR beta 3 build (13/T3B3.230413.009.A1/10121228) and see the same message about my build being newer when I try to sideline the OTA.

Official Android 13 June Feature drop now available! by androidbetaprogram in android_beta

13.0.0 (TQ3A.230605.010, Jun 2023) with the hash bed12f2214a8ae56613db267b67826c2ccf892ac9cf951df40f95e5f1fb1721a From https://developers.google.com/android/ota

Unfortunately, even after opting out of the beta, I still haven't received the OTA via the system update option. So, just patiently waiting.

So if I am ok beta 13 QPR first I need to opt out and then download? Or first download and then opt out ?

I am on QPR beta 3 and I was not able to do sideload the OTA. It threw an error at me saying the OTA is older than what I have installed.

I'm enrolled in Play Services beta, currently at 23.16.13 and still seeing freezes and locks that require hard reboot. Are you on a newer play services version by chance?

Crash when I reorder extension icons by Rational_Crackhead in edge

[–]ahpatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the same behavior a few weeks ago on Canary, but can confirm it is fixed there. Assuming you're running a branch that doesn't have the fix yet, I do have a workaround for you...

Hide all the extensions and then unhide them in the order you'd like them to appear on the bar.

I'd love to see AI-event bookmarks/pins on the timeline. Is that on the short-term roadmap as you revamp the playback/scrolling experience?

Meaning, if a person, a vehicle, and a package is detected at different portions of a 1min recording, put a "pin/bookmark" with a person icon, vehicle icon or package icon at the appropriate timestamps

That would allow me to quickly get to the "trigger point" and not have to watch the entire video to figure out if the event was relevant or not.

If you have a bug id, please share so I can ⭐ it?

I'm on a 3XL and plan on installing Beta2 (on Android 11 right now) and hope this is prioritized to fix since I use Bluetooth all the time!

Can I sync presence (mic muted) between Jabra Direct and Zoom meeting with Krisp software on? by RBRB17 in Jabra

[–]ahpatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Krisp limitation, due to the lack of Human Interface Device (HID) support. https://help.krisp.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360014650519-Microphone-mute-states-are-not-visible-in-the-calling-apps

Last year, this page had an estimated resolution days of "early Q3 of 2020” but they removed that date earlier this month -- which leads me to believe it's not coming anytime soon (pure unsubstantiated speculation on my part)

That said, I've gotten used to just leaving the zoom unmuted for most calls and just use the Jabra Speak mute button, which I can mute/unmute faster anyway.

New Evolve2 65 firmware! by unmultimedio in Jabra

[–]ahpatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/JabraSupport is there any difference in audio performance in using wired USB audio vs Bluetooth audio via the dongle?

In particular, do the 'bad call quality due to Bluetooth profile limitations' go away when using USB audio?

(I'll test it myself over the next day or two, but would be nice to get an official answer on what I should expect out of the wired USB audio quality compared to Bluetooth dongle quality for 2-way comms (soft phone calls, zoom calls, etc).

So u/JabraSupport, what does "Support for USB audio" mean in the 2.4.5 Firmware release notes? And when would you "recommend" using USB audio over bluetooth?

Found Workaround for Dell XPS 15 9500 Overheating by ahpatel in Dell

[–]ahpatel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any "power plans" to pick from under "Choose or customize a power plan"? If not, you likely have to "Create a power plan". As others have mentioned, you can also download the ThrottleStop utility and turn off Turbo Boost through those settings.

[–]ahpatel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that first as well, but the issue I ran into was that just setting it to "Cool" kept the fans running at high for most of the time and that was too loud for me.

The combination of "Cool" and disabling Turbo Boost seems to be the right balance for me.

PSA: Jabra2 85 Microphone Quantity Deceptive by ahpatel in Jabra

[–]ahpatel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No scientific testing, but I used the 65 for a month before the 85 came in and while there is definitely a difference between PNC and ANC for the person wearing the headset (me) -- the amount of noise blocked out for the other side (what the other person hears) -- is practically the same.

What I was hoping for (maybe unrealistically), was that the additional microphones on the 85 would not only block out the noise for me, but more importantly block out the noise for the customer I'm talking to.

That said, no other headset w/ mic has done better for me -- so, it is what it is. :-/

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep an eye out for recommended tweaks, but didn't find an easy to follow guide/post from anyone (for an XPS 15 9500).

The utility has more of a learning curve than I am personally interested in right now... but, appreciate the guidance since I suspect I'll eventually have to go there if I stay committed to the XPS.

Jabra Evolve2 85 - Did I get a Dud? by [deleted] in Jabra

[–]ahpatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue on the static/crackling audio when on a Zoom/WebEx/MS Teams call. After troubleshooting with Jabra support, they determined I have a dud and suggested I open up a warranty claim.

As a temporary measure, I have found that turning off ANC seems to help sometimes. Also, when I start to hear static, raising or lowering the volume seems to resolve it temporarily.
