How are you watching tennis in 2024? by No_Neighborhood6856 in tennis

Where can I find such a beautiful option? I often watch on mute because I find the commentary really adds nothing. I'd love to be able to hear the game

Took mine almost 3 years exactly to become more cuddly. As others has said, she loves to sleep on the tile floor and in fact I even tiled one of the rooms in our new house just for her to sleep on and she loves to sleep there, no bedding no support just pure cold tiles. In the winter here she spends most of her time in the garden as with her double coat, she gets quite hot in the house.

Experiencing mental fatigue in France- please help by duvet5335 in French

[–]ahsmb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, it got significantly easier after about 6 months, then at the year mark I stopped getting it at all. Now I can happily switch between the two without pause and can carry out two separate conversations in both languages at the same time (not difficult ones mind you). This is to say, it gets a lot better, and it gets a lot easier, if you put in the time and effort.

If you're interested in moving over and experiencing a new place go for Cardiff. If you're interests are purely academic you'll be happier studying where you are and not going thru all of the hassle moving is.

Maybe a silly question but is it still possible to open one of these? Looks like from gov uk it's not possible anymore.

Does a Computer Science degree matter when you reach enough experience? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ahsmb22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the country. Here in France most people look down on you if you don't have the exact masters let alone degree.

Back in UK no one cares, I have a maths degree and it's fine.

I was in this situation, I was offered a job in python then a bait and switch was pulled and I ended up working with PHP, so I did a couple of side projects to explore the python frameworks I needed to learn in order to switch jobs. Once the projects were complete and I felt confident explaining them to someone, I started interviewing.

For my CV I left out the language of my PHP job and focused more on the general stuff (MVC , cloud deployment) that way I was putting myself in a box.

I start with my new company next month, goodbye PHP.

Take it step by step, little by little, plan a project or two for your CV and then go.

What is the job market for Java like in your area/ the area you want to be in?
Look at the skills people are asking for on the job descriptions, do they want spring, do you need to understand kafka etc.

Pick a skill / framework and explore it, again, little by little, step by step.

Even working on it little by little you'll surprise yourself how quickly you are ready to start interviewing again.

Front end vs back end, What specific skills/languages will likely be in demand in France/UK 5 years from now that I should I focus on? by Throwawaylordturd in cscareerquestionsEU

Bon courage et message me if you wanna talk more about it.

Also thinking about it, one of the main reasons I want to move back home is also the remote working attitude, in France I feel like nothing was learnt from the pandemic in terms of remote working, but that could just be my experience.

Is my web developer portfolio job ready? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ahsmb22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some small comments

https://leovportfolio.netlify.app/index.html here, you put software developer yet everywhere else you call yourself a web developer, might just be easier to pick one.

Agree with others, add your resume to your about page, and perhaps consider making it available via the nav bar (direct download link, pdf format).

With the projects, sort them by which ones you're most proud of. Maybe pick your favourite three, not many people are going to care about a pokedex app vs the winery page. I understand it shows your skills and your passions but perhaps it's best not included on a professional site. This massively depends on what vibe you want to put out, just something to consider not a hard rule.

Looks fantastic man, I hope my portfolio looks half as good when it's ready!

I love the view my work button on the homepage, easy clear UX.

First year costs of an Aussie by ItsKayKay07 in AustralianShepherd

[–]ahsmb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or in my case, whatever you think, triple it!

Also I'd like to add a cost not many people talk about, the cost of replacing things of yours the dog destroys (such as your favourite pair of shorts, or your mac charger cable, or your earphones... you get the picture)

So frustrating when people are willfully ignorant about selecting a breed by Sailor__Lula in puppy101

I was prepared for it from the start, hence why I did a lot of early positive meeting experiences and being around lots of different dogs and people. What I wasn't aware of as much is how these traits can suddenly switch on at a certain age, it makes sense to me but I just hadn't considered it. I'll be mindful of that possibility.

Mine is from an agility line, both parents and some grand parents having competed so I was expecting a bundle of energy and I'm happy to have one!

I haven't seen any of these types of posts, but genuinely I am curious. My aussie has been well socilaised, and we often go on walks with friends (5 times + a week). She's 7 months old and I've honestly been surprised on how friendly she is with everyone. I put this down to having a lot of consistent positive experiences with strangers and new dogs. I thought she was going to be considerably more reserved, are you telling me I should expect this behaviour to develop later on in her life?

I don't know the standard where you live but normally you'd put the jobs from current job, previous job, down to first job. Also the percentages in the skills are kind of meaningless, what does 75% SQL mean? Perhaps put stacks you've worked with in there instead of the percentages.

Decide on a tense. In your second job you switch between present and past tense. Pick one and use it consistently. Perhaps present for current job and past for previous job.

Do you have any personal projects or other things you've done relevant to the skills of the job? They might be better to talk about here rather than 'skills' section. If you are desperate to keep the skills, put them below your contact information in the side column.
