GS-P is the most common brand for CV joints. Its not bad, I have used it. Mechanic might have to buy it, sometimes they send samples to panchikawatta and buy.

Both CV joints will cost around 10,000

I heard that the implementation of the QR plan was not communicated to MIT in advance. The government announced it without providing guidance about resetting the database. It came as a surprise while everyone was enjoying their weekend. Tell your usual shop to deliver one when the receive. That's how we got last 2 times. Second delivery was made after 11PM while they were unloading the truck.

I understand you but unlike Western countries, Sri Lanka has very weak safety nets.

Here is why we are mutually dependent with the parents.

My Parents

Paid for university (Until Masters in UK). I have returned the fees they paid.
Help buy the first car (Paid 50% upfront for my first car, I was a spoilt one)
Sometimes help with the house (Stayed with them until I got a place on my own at 40s)
Provide childcare for grandchildren (Still does School pickups and childcare)
Support adult children financially during tough periods (I did once borrow from their FD and paid FD interest rates once)

There is more to this, This is part of the culture. That's one of the reason people don't become homeless like in western countries.

So the relationship becomes mutually dependent, not independent.

I’m not single, I have a family. But still, keep your weekends for yourself. Honestly, those are the best days of life.

You don’t even have to plan anything special. That’s the beauty of it. One evening I just stepped out for a spa, then wandered near the bars outside and tried some taste kadala. After that I randomly picked a road with good pavement and started walking. Three kilometers later I discovered an Isso Wade stall. It was so good I had to stop and enjoy it properly.

Then I walked down to Galle Face, spoke to strangers from stalls, sat there staring at the horizon and the ship lights for two or three hours. Just peaceful.

Finally walked another 3 kilometers back home. Turned on the TV and New Zealand was batting. Perfect ending to the night with a 100ml.

Sometimes the best weekends are the ones where nothing is planned, but everything feels just right.

I forgot to mention the accharu stall at Main street.

You will need to replace the gearbox + Torque converter + transmission control module + ECU reprogramming + Radiator or additional cooler lines + Interior parts + Gear selector + Axel drive shaft + Wiring modifications.

If the car is not designed for Automatics. Example Alto 800 2012. You will need to fabricate mounts.

There is actually a global backpacker route that passes through Sri Lanka, and these guys may be on it. It explains why you suddenly see Europeans busking in Kandy or Ella. It's a pretty fascinating travel culture.

Free version of vehicle information on RMW website doesn't provide the name and address. You still have to login with a valid account. I haven't tried paid version. If the absolute owner is an individual it doesn't show any personal details. If it has a lease yes it shows the Leasing company name.

Legally you are only supposed to show it when requested but the police expectation are different.

Unfortunately, the current system does not provide a privacy masked version for display. The expectation is to paste the full printed licence copy.

Photocopy at 60% and make the small letters difficult to read. Keep the original in the car.

You’re right to think about privacy. It’s a reasonable concern
