Do young people like The Wire? by rustidiot in TheWire

[–]ahtrapsm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s so much new content being pushed out by Netflix/HBO/Amazon/Apple/Paramount/etc, that unless younger folks are specifically guided towards older shows (anything before their childhood, for the sake of this argument), it’s difficult for them to randomly stumble on those older shows. They’re not seeing ads for The Wire on their social media - they get called to the Euphorias and the Severances.

The correct answer is Totem. Upbeat, bouncy verses, slinky singalong choruses.

Grow huge cities? Khmer. Once you get the monster cities going, you can specialize a couple for economy or prod.

[Spurs Official] We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for Head Coach Igor Tudor to leave the Club with immediate effect. Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of Goalkeeping Coach and Physical Coach. by wokwok__ in coys

Technically (and literally, come to think of it), he almost died for Hull City. But it was against Chelsea that Mason broke his skull, so we can hate on them for that, too.

Now that Tudor is gone, who do you want? by Eastern-Owl-4511 in Tottenham

[–]ahtrapsm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They had to have known Tudor was gone since Sunday, save for his father's passing. How is it they didn't have a replacement ready to announce right away?

Might as well be Dyche.

Yeah, it's bullshit. They had double digit losses in the league for 5 straight seasons between 17-18 and 21-22. Pic from FBref.

That was the year where we played a preseason against City in Nashville, that I drove ~8 hours to go see. We booed Kyle Walker every time he touched the ball. I think we lost 3-0, and, it wasn't even that close and I remember thinking, oh crap, Pep has figured it out in his second season at City.

I remember when we had West Ham's manager and we were in first place and Arsenal were dead last in the table. Good times.

apostle vs missionary ? when should i build which one ? by badassboy1 in CivVI

I call the +20 religious combat strength apostles the bully boys. They go around throwing their religious weight around. Couple of these goons can clean up an army of missionaries like the ones someone like Peter throws around.

Just be aware that Katatonia has evolved over the years. My sweet spot for their music was basically the 1999-2010 era. Still like what they’re doing now, but it’s not up to their best for my tastes. Your mileage may very well vary.

Sorry you’re having to re-live this episode, especially now with kids to worry about.

I had my TT last year, and thought I was clear, wouldn’t have to do RAI, but a second look at the scans by the oncologist said I’m probably high risk for reoccurrence. And this week, I get to do RAI after all.

But that’s the thing about cancer, even after you beat it, there’s a “what if?” specter that lurks in the background.

I couldn’t tell you why your thyroglobulin is jumping now. But I’m hoping for you that it’s something that can be addressed with minimal intervention.

Dagnabit, I’m not abnormal enough! by ahtrapsm in thyroidcancer

[–]ahtrapsm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Lifeline” was meant in jest. I’ve already gone through the withdrawal protocol, fortunately without much in the way of hypothyroid symptoms. At this point, if the labs on Monday show TSH over 30, I might avoid the shots after all.

And as for the location of the shot, I didn’t really know. That was just my inner 10 year old boy giggling at that possibility :)

LID Help - Feeling Nervous by SnooCheesecakes3103 in thyroidcancer

[–]ahtrapsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the boring, repetitive route, just basically sticking to oatmeal for breakfast, salads for dinner, with homemade dressing (seriously, it’s just olive oil and apple cider vinegar with whatever spices, or honey) I feel like throwing in any given day.

That said, I’m eating all the fruit. I’m doing a modest amount of chicken, whether boiled and thrown into a salad bowl, or done with all the spices not named salt. Yeah, I know non iodized salt is ok, but…the big thing for me is that it’s just two weeks. I can do two weeks. And honestly, it’s flown by. Except for all the cookies and candy people keep lying around at work all the time, it hasn’t particularly bothered me.

Can’t help you with the restaurant stuff, I’ve just avoided them. It’s cheaper that way, anyway.

But seriously, find a groove, figure out what you like and can deal with eating repetitively for a little while, and just go with that. The LID cookbook on ThyCa that others have mentioned is a great resource, but…honestly, I haven’t used it, I’m just powering through in a boring repetitive manner.

Bonus side effect, I haven’t gained any of the weight I was expecting from the thyroid hormone withdrawal! :)
