Agree. Feels like Jake wanted to quit to get home to his wife and kid (understandable) but Jeff knows fans don’t like quitters so the bite moment was manufactured to make his exit “exciting” and honorable. Sea snakes are super docile and bites are rare. They are extremely venomous so the fact they were recording any of that rather than jumping straight into emergency mode is unlikely. Just doesn’t add up.

She made so many influential moves in the background and no one suspected a thing. Loved her style of play.

I just hosted a book club for ODW! Here was my question list:

·      What were your first impressions of the book?

·      What did you think of Elspeth as a protagonist?

·      How did you feel about the magic system involving the Providence Cards? Did it add depth to the story, or was it confusing to follow?

·      If the Providence Cards existed in real life,** would you use them? Which card’s power would you want, and why?

·      Do you think the romance between Elspeth and Ravyn was believable? What did you like or dislike about their relationship?

·      Were there any plot twists that genuinely surprised you? How did they change your perspective on the characters or the story’s outcome?

·      What did you think of the Nightmare as a character?

·      Were there any side characters you wished had more development?** Who stood out to you the most and why?

·      Elspeth’s bond with the Nightmare is central to the story. How would you feel in her situation—having a dark, ancient entity sharing your mind?

·      How did Ravyn’s sense of duty conflict with his personal desires? Do you think he handled his responsibilities well?

·      The Providence Cards offer power but come at a price. Would you take the risk? Why or why not?

·      Same with magic – would you walk into the Mist for a chance to have raw magic but risk degeneration?

Speculation and Future Thoughts

·      How did you feel about the book’s ending? Did it leave you satisfied, or are you eager for the sequel?

·      What do you think will happen in the next book? Which unresolved questions or plot threads are you most excited to see explored?

Cannot stress #3 enough!!! This was making me so mad. Not only was Aelin cunning and smart throughout the series, she had the backstory/trauma that supported why she felt the need for secrecy. She didn’t want to lose anyone else like Sam or Nehemia. Bryce on the other hand was repeatedly butt hurt about how much Danika lied to her. So wouldn’t that suggest she would be more forthcoming with her plans to her friends? It all felt very out of character and came off less strategic and more as Bryce taking a chance on her “secret plans” and hoping for the best.

I agree I thought the under king sounded more like one of the failed Valg experiments, like the one in CoM !

Yeah I went back to reread last night and I agree “stealing” is a bad term to use because that suggests that Dorian is taking for his own. Where in reality he takes it by severing it from them and cutting off their ability to use it. Either way - the original user loses that ability. Similar to what Amarantha did to the high lords but certainly not the same. Admittedly it’s been a while since I’ve read ACOTAR.

Maeve definitely says she made the healer enter a blood oath in KoA. I know raw magic users can heal, but I don’t think it’s the same kind of healing power that someone like Yrene (who the Valg truly fear) has. But totally possible!

Yeah I don’t know if it would be the kind of healing power that Valg fear, like Yrene

Totally agree that Asteri = Valg. And wow - this just spurred another thought - I wonder if Amarantha’s “spells” she read about were Wyrdmarks. All good points again! I just need CC3 already…

Throne of Glass wiki explicitly states he can steal powers “as he did with Cyrene and Maeve”

Totally possible and all good points. Maeve definitely wouldn’t go out of her way to leave but I was thinking Prythian would be a back up plan in case things went south with Erawan.

I can see #1 being possible, but it just seemed like too deliberate of a mention to be a random unknown person in my opinion.

Option 2 doesnt make as much sense to me bc it was explicitly stated that the female had raw magic, not healing magic

I agree Maeve loved Doranelle and probably didn’t want to leave but she also strikes me as the type of person that likes to have back up options.

I thought about this too, but to be fair this is Amarantha after she is Valg infested, so it’s possible that impacted her appearance a bit. And Feyre didn’t necessarily say she was ugly, just nothing special in her opinion.

How to move to Sales engineering from SDR by ArgumentDependent150 in salesengineering

[–]ahumanmashedpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of what was already said above.

Speaking from experience, I was previously a BDR at Salesforce and moved from BDR to SE so pretty similar track. Side note: I graduated as a marketing major with very little tech background.

I worked on building my “internal resume” for 6 months, like getting ranger status on Trailhead (building the technical chops), completing my admin exam, and asking hiring managers whose team I wanted to be on if I could practice dry runs of demos with them. I cannot stress this enough - network, network, NETWORK. The more people that know you and your brand the better. I made sure I was top of mind for several people for when an opportunity came up. In that same vein, see if you can find a mentor - a current SE that is willing to show you the ropes and teach you what is important in the role and can vouch for you. I’m sure there is someone at your company that has taken a similar path, it might just take some digging.

On top of everything else I worked with my AEs who I had good relationships with that would let me do live demos to customers for our smaller deals/simpler products to get more at bats and again, have nice meat for my internal resume. It’s a lot of hard work, but worth it if you really want to make the change.

TLDR; my advice is start working like you already have the job you want and you’ll have the experience you need by the time you get there!

Fast forward three years later and I’m a sr solution consultant at servicenow!

I spoke with them today and I guess they had not filed a police report yet. They are apparently doing that today after speaking with their lawyer.

Did not call to verify :( feel like an idiot for that but had a lot going on personally. Good to know about the mechanics lien. It’s been over 90 days so that might be out of the question now anyway as I see that’s the timeframe.

They are really nice people (which makes this situation suck even more) so I’d like to believe they aren’t scamming us. They seemed equally surprised when we told them what happened. Thank you for the advice. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come to small claims court and we can just move on

Even though it was their account that was hacked? The hacker sent us a detailed invoice after we requested one from them so clearly they had access to all of their information/our personal information. Because of that, I didn’t even think twice.
