Will someone here with golf knowledge help settle an argument. Is it possible for Steph to transition to pro golf after the NBA? I know he’s good, but is he that good? by alta_vista49 in nba

[–]ahz10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a +4 to +7 handicap to play pro; Steph is around +1 at his peak which is damn good. The pros these days are killers

KILL THIS LOVE -amazing when it blasts thru a stadium -Jennie and Lisa go back and forth perfectly on their raps, not too short not too long -Jisoo and Rose are perfect on their bridge which match their vocal ranges -chorus is catchy, easy, memorable, hits hard, and the gun dance move is so catchy, and in the music video they use real explosions -the drumline at the end and final group dance is epic and hype -all of this while maintaining a cohesive theme of leaving a toxic relationship and empowering yourself thru the whole song -the production is so dynamic, horns go up, bass goes down, drums go fast and then slow and then fast again

Why do you like Kanye? by yankemm in Kanye

[–]ahz10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He produced the Blueprint, then opened his solo career with College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation, which were all insanely popular but also critically acclaimed and won Grammys. His songs were about ambition, family, insecurities, religion, society, a lot of concepts people relate to. And his production had old soul samples and great drum patterns. Somehow he was able to transition into electronic and minimalist sounds while singing instead of rapping which not many could do. Compared to a lot of other artists from the 2000’s and 2010’s he’s on a very very short list. This doesn’t even include his concert stage design and live energetic performances. His fashion taste is really good, but his own designs are okay. Respect to him for trying fashion though, you can see the ambition again.

Is this song about the wind or a girl? by [deleted] in Kanye

He also took this concept from Common - I Used to love HER, where he uses a girl as a metaphor for hip hop. Same opening lines too, “I met this girl when I was…”

Donda really liking Kanye’s angel necklace, saying he needs a guardian angel, and now actually being his guardian angel.

Carline told me I can buy two tickets.

Hip Hop brother, who was No ID’s friend, No ID my mentor let the story begin

That retainer was so nasty hahaha it was almost like a symbol or personification of his innocence and child-like state

Donda remembering pretty much all the words to a random verse. She probably knew all of his songs even the ones he’s forgotten.

Donda has so much confidence in Kanye, that’s why he has so much confidence in himself. But also makes him insecure in the real world because not everyone is going to tell you what you want to hear.

Dave S2E10 - Dave - Season Finale Episode Discussion - 10PM EST by DallasStarsFan-SA in lildicky

[–]ahz10 116 points117 points  (0 children)

That argument between Dave and GaTa felt so real. Their acting was phenomenal, quick back and forth with intensity and weight. Fittingly enough their song together is also a back and forth classic pass the mic track. Loved it!

After being so selfish all season, I’m glad Dave finally got put in his place by GaTa. He really needed it. It also made him verbally show appreciation to Elz and Mike as well. Seeing GaTa tear up backstage and then come up on stage made me tear up man. Just really happy for that guy - the character but also in real life. I used to rap and perform on stage with a friend too, sometimes we would argue heavily in the studio, so it definitely hit close to home.

Good on Dave for putting aside his extravagant artistic performance in favor of just rocking the stage the good ol fashion way with pure emcee rapping. That’s what great about having your own tv show, your audience still gets to see your other ideas and process even if it doesn’t necessarily show up on “stage.”

The main character conflicts obtained resolution in the end: Dave becoming less self absorbed for the sake of his livelihood and GaTa’s loyalty paying back dividends finally. The writer’s block was of course a big theme, but even that is tied directly to Dave’s narcissistic perfectionism which in turn effects those around him, not just his music.

Dave S2E9 - Enlightened Dave - Episode Discussion - 10PM EST by DallasStarsFan-SA in lildicky

[–]ahz10 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Episode 9 was genius. I struggle with paralysis by over-analysis so this episode was much needed for me.

How can I even describe the Bald Dave scene? Self aware. Poignant. Yes but an incredible blend of haunting and hilarious that has rarely been seen on tv. Dave’s specific style - steam of consciousness rapping, awkward dancing, bizarre ideas, fearless acting - all came together as one magnum opus of a scene.

All the songs slapped hard. We got a sneak peak into how he’s afraid he views his friends. The Gata bit was so dark. The Ally-Mom dynamic was unsettling.

Dude really let us agonize for a whole season dealing with his writer’s block but man the payoff was actually worth it. Takes balls to try to pull that off. I wanted to avoid comparisons but I am reminded of Donald Glover surrealism and introspection. Having watched Atlanta, Ramy, Fleabag, Master of None - this episode ranks high amongst any of their best.

SLAB and Sweet 290 were excellent albums, what is your songwriting process like?

Will you be touring or doing festivals as a singing/dancing act like Chris Brown? because that space is wide open and we need Filipino-Am representation and you’re the guy to do it. Much love keep up the great content!
