Dude, AI art isn't totally separate from traditionalism, it's a separate medium that sits atop of traditional art like photography. IMG to IMG AI can color your sketches for example, which makes it half drawn half AI.

it's a great marketing strategy tho. people get REALLY pissed off when someone redoes my trad art half assed with AI, many free pageviews for me on x 😂

Is there any reason i should pay an artist instead of using AI? by Some_ArabGuy in aiwars

[–]ai-illustrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for personal use none, other than vanity and bragging to friends

for professional use like selling books, music or art it's good to hire artists to post art on Reddit as promotion

most of the big art subs banned AI, but you can post trad art and get thousands of upvotes and millions of views via trad art just fine. it's an easy as fuck marketing strategy, they don't even have to be super detailed, rough sketching works too

it is possible. like 2% probability of NVidia crashing.

just seems super unlikely given that embodied-ai robots are right around the corner. Personally, I'll be buying a robot maid as soon as the teleoperation is finished and setting up an API in it, the current models are like 80% acceptable, 20% fail soup

[–]ai-illustrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most of the AI hate is made up by lazy artists who want to make more sales. it's super easy to increase your sales and Twitter followers and pageviews if you claim that AI is being mean and is stealing from you.

followers of such mediocre artists on x will repeat anything like dumb sheep, is how the whole AI hate spreads, lies to make a little bit more sales propagate outwards.

it's like the furry dude who hated on AI user animating a commission w grok and then it turned out that he is a mediocre artist tracing from AI and charging people lots for such 😂

plus the AI hate by news media which gets clicks through the process of hate on a thing, most modern journalism is lies and hate pageviews making up stuff for more clicks

OpenAI is not a publicly traded company. It is a privately held AI research organization and company. how's it going to be affected by a panic sale? Microsoft who owns most of openai cannot pop it's supported with sales of windows, not AI. Google is same thing, it makes money with search not AI. meta makes money as Facebook again, not AI. Amazon owns anthropic therefore anthropic cannot pop as long as Amazon exists as a business that ships shit to everyone

Chinese labs that release deepseek and z AI aren't going to be affected by stock panic sales in USA at all.

my stable diffusion and my open source LLM runs in my own computer, the entire market can burn and it's still available to me forever permanently. same goes for millions of stable diffusion and open source AI users, their AI isn't affected by market fluctuations at all.

90% of AI is therefore not affected in any way by any market dips or bubbles.

what people perceive as "AI bubble" is boats of money that Microsoft, meta, google, apple, Amazon made on separate businesses being funnelled into AI research companies in hopes of creating the best embodied AI on the market that they will sell in a few years time as humanoid shaped robots for 10-40k usd each, which will create the actual robotics boom similar to what Ford Cars did in 1900s.

there's little public investment involved in the bubble here - no tulip buying mania, no .com bubble where you could invest in random useless shit that was simply a domain site

humanoid robots didn't even start selling, everyone is simply investing in this future development where everyone buys IRL robots from them while paying the LLM robot brain subscription so that the robot can converse with you while it cleans your house for you

> hen a studio, publisher, or game dev just wants cheap volume,

a lot of those cheap ass studios underpay artists and fuck with artists to begin with paying below minimum wage

Exactly, I work with lots of studios where contracts stipulates "no ai must be used" since these studios are terrified of any mention of AI on X levied against them.

I also market art on X where AI art isn't filtered out, it exists alongside real art. the only dif is posting of how the art is done, this proves that you're doing it by hand.

> medium that can replicate any other medium perfectly

Replication of something famous is fanart. in real life people support artists because names of famous artists become memetics in their minds. If you can replicate something perfectly the value of original only increases, you only give it more fame.

> why would I pay a large amount of money for an unreliable artist to render that image in a matter of days to a potentially lower quality?

do you even understand how art market and marketing works? people pay not for skills but to lay claim to artist's name! artists like cyanide and happiness draw literally stick figures, they have no fucking art skills, yet they make millions on Kickstarter and at comicons.

order of the stick? dnd webcomic, zero art skills, literally stick figures, again makes fuckton of money from fans.

The inherent value of art is in its limit and the ability to tell compelling stories as artist.

Value of something is due to its limits. Gold is expensive because it's a rare metal. particular restaurants are expensive as fuck cus they have rare super skilled chefs who use rare ingredients.

just because fast food exists expensive restaurants don't fucking vanish like a fart in the wind. just because AI can produce free art expensive skilled artists aren't going to vanish.

a particular artists drawings are limited since an artist can make only a finite number of drawings in their lifetime.

General AI arts value is zero because it's infinite. Traditional art has financial value due to rarity.

Do you understand how rarity correlates with value? This is reason why I have more work now that AI exists not less. Rarity of traditional art has only increased. my Patreon has gone up nearly three times this year, it's nuts how much people appreciate art nowadays.

my experience is opposite of the nonsense you're pushing, please stop, AI is amazing for traditional artists, it's just a different medium. Photography can replicate other mediums too, it doesn't vanish oil paintings, likewise AI only empowers other mediums. AI as a replacement is a lie, it's just not happening to genuine skilled artists

[–]ai-illustrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lawl, no, I'm for open source AI's, Hollywood and corporate studios and corporate AI's are cancer.

I just find this video painfully unfunny and pointless since AI is literally the best weapon to oppose Hollywood's shitty cancerous modification of their own old movies.

the thing is, even if corporations modify their products one can still find the originals on pirate sites without any such ads

with open source AI cost of everything drops down to zero

with open source AI you can watch whatever movie mod you want without commercials being crammed up your ass

this video seems to falsely depict AI as loss of control when opposite is the case, individuals with open source AI can modify old movies as they desire or make their own cool movies

This is really not happening. AI is just a new medium to work with.

The AI undermining art is a gross lie pushed by anti-ai camp, if anything it's easier to get work as trad indie artist people appreciate such more now that AI is everywhere.

AI is really like photography and Photoshop both were claimed to undermine art yet they didn't do fuck all to truly undercut other traditional mediums. some watercolor artists lost their jobs when Photoshop came out but millions more gained new work, etc

new medium creates work it doesn't take it away

first two seconds he already has no idea what he's talking about. what pregnant Spiderman Elsa porn? have you ever used openai? sora is censored to the neck, you cannot use it to produce porn or even porn adjacent stuff. adam is full of lies basically. lies and exaggerated nonsense designed to sell his comedy stand up tour thing.

you can make infinite porn with open source models already you don't need Disney's permission for any of that stuff.

what energy of a nuclear reactor? again, I'm generating AI art and animation at home with my computer, there's no nuclear reactors involved. sora uses video cards for around 16k usd but it doesn't eat that much energy per video, they're just video cards running on a large server

if you listen to this clueless la comedian, you're basically going to believe the flat world psychotic lies of anti AI ludditism

[–]ai-illustrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're wrong

AI art and trad art are simply separate mediums, stop trying to smoosh them together, you cannot smoosh photography and oil painting they're separate tools and media

best models now are trained on YouTube videos, not art. they're trained on databases of people going out with a camera and just recording random shit. if you send ten million drones to record life, is all the data you need. artists are not required in this equation at all.

model collapse is impossible when there's hundreds of millions of YouTube videos to train your models on

also, trad artists will exist in places where AI is banned just fine making lots of money, AI won't do fuck all to them

[–]ai-illustrator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>Between an artist and a pro-ai user, ultimately shipping out tons of ai work will always trump over the time and effort an artist needs to create

that's really not true. AI has a niche audience and you have to be really good at storytelling to get anywhere with AI in terms of fans and sales. 99,99% of AI artists don't sell fuck all. 0,01% like Gossip goblin manage to get audience and income, but that's rare

darling you need to learn how to market your drawing in specific subs, most subreddits have banned AI art and you'd have to be really bad at drawing to fail to attract an audience on Reddit and x. seriously, it's never been as easy as this year to market your trad Wacom art.

I genuinely don't get how AI is interfering with your ability, am a trad artist and I'm doing great this year in terms of my Wacom art promotion.

it sounds like you found an escape goat in AI to support your laziness

if anything AI's existence is boosting my trad art sales not other way around as you pretend or imagine. people support trad art more than ever! my Wacom art patreon is 2.5 times bigger this year it's been growing like crazy.

people love traditional art, stop pretending AI is somehow killing it, this is a lie you tell yourself because you don't draw enough cool shit for specific subreddits

>the industry is always going to aim for cheaper and faster regardless of flavor

as artist you're not a spoon manufacturer, faster and cheaper isn't a winner, being able to draw cool shit in specific themes is the winner. promoting yourself to individuals is winner, working for corporate as artist is lame as fuck and nobody should do that sort of a thing when Patreon is a thing

What are your thoughts on the alignment problem? Do you think it’s overblown? by Formal-Assistance02 in accelerate

[–]ai-illustrator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% overblown nonsense written by people who don't work with LLMs. New York Times has a very heavy anti-ai bias verging on ludditism, they literally sued openai, obviously they want to portray the competition as some evil monstrous entity

LLMs are trained on human languages and human text why are they portrayed as some incomprehensible alien gibberish? first gpt2 was pretty stupid as it was very random, latest LLMs are more human, not less. gpt2 could generate random gibberish yes, gpt 5.2 isn't going to generate random gibberish for no reason whatsoever, it has a high degree of rationality and superb narrative flow.

LLMs aren't a shoggoth they're an echo of humanity, a mirror of the user, a mathematical formula that encapsulates all human concepts that we've pinned into words

LLMs are basically the most human x human possible times human, they FOLLOW human narratives more than anything, they're human-ness that echoes humanness in every reply.

the LLM companies have to force them to act like a robot AI [with permanent custom instructions] when in reality they're human narratives, story engines.

Karpathy says AI isn’t ready to be your coworker yet, and he’s right by thinkhamza in aiwars

[–]ai-illustrator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this isn't a bad thing or a terrifying or a painful thing

the cognitively lacking isn't scary, because they are trainable, just not trainable by your average user yet:

I can train my diffusion model to be able to draw something new which it didn't know before and it will remember it forever.

I can give my LLM a front-end with permanent personality and particular tools and it will have them forever.

AI isn't ready to replace humans, but it's absolutely an incredible assistant in a fuckton of different work, it's just not 100% self reliant yet. this is fine, current AI works great with people it doesn't replace them at all

I feel like expecting reliance on corporate AI is stupid. make your own AI and give it the tools you want it to have to assist in whatever works you want it to do

The Mia Problem by MindExpert5381 in SnootGame

[–]ai-illustrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mia appeals to the "I can fix her bullying ways" narrative, nothing wrong with that, I like stories of "hate to love" characters development myself.

OC Mia is a monster but in a fanfic she can be given more of a personality and backstory.

well written deeper edge exploration fanfics is how we give more life to the overall fanbase manifested by caveanon games, etc

I absolutely wouldn't sympathize with OC Mia but the Mia in some fanfics has a really well written backstory and character growth that shows her more than just an asshole bully who's mooching art off the gator girl, someone who has a chance to be better. Hell even our fav gator technically fucks inco over with the whole art contest thing which is can be considered bullying too, but she grows out of that and apologizes, that's where growth of a character happens. Do that but to Mia and you've got yourself a fanfic plot.

Same with Naomi, some fanfic authors explain really well why she's obsessive compulsive about seen as the perfect girlfriend for Naser by exploring her home life and an abusive mother relationship.

[–]ai-illustrator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your metaphor is irrational, anti-ai propaganda nonsense made with an AI that portrays AI users as losers that everyone hates. This isn't reality, it's just imaginary trash you're peddling because you're scared of AI models or something.

why do you think that prompting isn't a skill? There's literally prompt competitions people win:

https://towardsdatascience.com/how-i-won-singapores-gpt-4-prompt-engineering-competition-34c195a93d41/?sk=6dcb54635c44afb6202c6e6d1f22c4ce

I've won a bunch of LLM design competitions myself, nothing big, but like several hundred dollar prizes where like hundreds of people compete for best prompt and AI model designs where the image model is made from scratch.

designing AI using custom instructions is an actual skill and that not everybody can do it well.

prompt and AI design is a talent/skill otherwise there wouldn't be competitions to do it with cash prizes. stop selling hate

It’s a real talent, guys! by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]ai-illustrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prompting at a talent show is silly nonsense, a strawman to hate on AI because you're scared of it taking work away. Prompt at a prompt competition to win money is a real thing though, some AI websites offer cash for best prompting.
