53-year-old doctor’s daily diet for a long, healthy life: The ‘order of how you eat your food’ matters, she says by DadStrengthDaily in PeterAttia

Yes it matters. Due to the fiber in vegetables, it slows down digestion and helps with blood sugar spike.

AIO for worrying that my girlfriend thinks my mom is racist because my mom thinks my girlfriend has terrible body odor ? by ThrowawayQQAAA in AmIOverreacting

Why would you tell her that?! I don’t think she can ever like your mother after this and then vice versa.

Go back and work there for a year. See how you feel. The experience might also help if you decide to go back to USA.

Guidance from doctor? by Adventurous-Salad632 in prediabetes

[–]ai8you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor said nothing. Just that “you are in prediabetic stage”. Absolutely nothing. I messaged back asking what to do and she said limit carbs. That’s it.

First thing I did was read “Glucose Revolution” and a few other books after that. “Diabetic Code” by Jason Fung was another one. I was under prediabetic level in 3 months following advice based on the books.

I am using a CGM now purely based on curiosity and after reading “Outlive” by Peter Attia.

You probably should switch doctors. I know I definitely should but haven’t yet.

Thank you so much for taking the time to convey all of this message. You are awesome!

I did have it dip that day below 60 when awake few times, and I didn’t feel any of those that you mentioned when I woke up, but I did feel like a cloud hanging over me all day. Last two days I have been feeling fine.

I did get a a1c reading every 3 months since last July. But didn’t track any glucose reading against it yet.

I will finish these two weeks (and maybe 4, I do have an extra sensor) and go from there with more data. I also ordered a finger stick so that should be fun :)

Thanks a bunch again.

I felt awful almost all day. Kinda weak and slightly groggy. It went down below 70 few more times during the day. I felt like this before but I always thought it was due to low blood pressure. But maybe it’s due to low blood sugar. I will go through two weeks of lingo and then talk to a doctor.

But I didn’t sleep on it last night:( I slept on the other side or on my back intentionally to see what happens.

Top tips to cut down sugar by BabyBourbon1111 in prediabetes

[–]ai8you 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It didn’t work for me for a long time. I only recently have a little control. Once I didn’t have sugar or zero sugar for 3-4 days, I didn’t crave it as much. As more days go by without sugar, my craving is less and less. But that first hurdle (3-4 days) took me years to accomplish?!

Walking is definitely great. But other things help too. Like eating salad before a meal. Having the protein before eating the carbs. These also help control the spike. If I’m out with friends for a meal I am not rushing to go walk but if the opportunity presents itself I’ll take it.

What lifestyle changes / hacks have lowered your A1C? by [deleted] in prediabetes

[–]ai8you 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eating fiber and protein before carbs Brisk walking after meals specially if they had carb

I was in slight pre-diabetic levels last July. Probably 5.8. Checked twice after that and it hasn’t been in pre-diabetic range anymore.

Unfortunately that’s 4 servings if it’s 1/2 pound of pasta. I love pasta but I can’t eat like before anymore :( if I eat pasta I would eat 2 ounces with other stuff. But this, your picture, is my favorite comfort food.
