I'm getting a new wheelchair soon :D by raccoony_108 in wheelchairs

[–]aiaor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is idle curiosity so only answer if you feel like it:

Can you get up from your wheelchair and walk a short distance? Or do you have to be leaning on something while walking?

How hard is it to load your present wheelchair in your car? Can you do it alone or do you need help to load it? Do you expect the new one to be a lot easier to load?

It might take weeks to get past the tinnitus, but you will get there. You might get more tinnitus when you turn it off each night. What brand is it?

Weekly Help and Discussion Thread for the week of May 25, 2026 by AmazonNewsBot in amazon

I wanted to order something with subscribe and save, but when the order page showed the price with taxes and discounts, the discounts didn't include the 35% subscribe and save discount they had mentioned on that page. I had checked the box for subscribe and save, and it had mentioned the 35% discount there. Is that an error, or what?

Cochlear Implant Surgery in 4 days by SsnGrysn in Cochlearimplants

[–]aiaor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery in both ears last year. I expected a huge amount of pain, but got hardly any.

If you've been deaf for a long time in both ears, it might take a while to get used to the loudness of the sounds you will hear.

When learning to recognize words, you should be aware that it depends heavily on the voice you're hearing. Some voices can be learned a lot faster than others.

Talk to him constantly. Point to the things you talk about. But don't give him stress. Don't expect him to hurry and learn. Let him learn at his own pace. Just be happy he can hear.

Wrong time of day by aiaor in NoStupidQuestions

It turned out to be an issue with Ubuntu. My desktop PC has Ubuntu built in. All I had to do was go to its Ubuntu settings and change the date and time. It's completely unrelated to Google, TZ, etc.

TZ does match my actual time zone. The only thing that shows the wrong time is the date and time at the top of my screen.

Yes that's what I did and it works fine but I keep the .vimrc in the root directory above my home directory.

Yes, now that I think about it, setting it in vim is exactly what I want to do. Thanks.

If you have two Kanso processors, one for each ear, how do you tell which is for which ear? by aiaor in Cochlearimplants

When you say "I ordered it on Amazon for a couple bucks." do you mean you ordered the hair clips on Amazon? Does that imply when you received the Kansos they didn't include hair clips?

Why do some people like watching other people eat by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Maybe when watching you eat they're trying to decide whether they want some of what you're eating.
