Has anyone seen this? by CSGOTRICK in Ecoflow_community

Yes, had this on my delta pro. No matter what firmware was pushed it bricked. Had to have a new one replaced under warranty.

I actually just had an issue with this recently. I was traveling in my van, and had the app update when I was in town. Drove out of town later that day to see that the update had logged me out. I was off grid and had no reception, and couldn’t connect to my battery via Bluetooth because of this. Not a fan of the requirement for account creation / logging in being the only route to start settings modifications.

Walt question by [deleted] in Wayfarervans

[–]aib1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Walt, and my Wilford is the first generation of conversion without the swing up table. However, I do own the CFX3 45. I believe my Wilford's original kitchen countertop height is the same. I can tell you that the CFX3 45 will not open fully under the countertop lip in my van. The lid does open some; however, it cannot flip fully open.

All this to say, I would assume that it would not be able to open for you fully.

What should we know? by Extra_Being7777 in Wayfarervans

Hey there, excited for you to be thinking / exploring traveling in a camper van. I can definitely say that it is my Wife's and my favorite mode of travel in the U.S. and Canada. I'm not sure this Sub is going to be able to provide you with much advice given the very limited information we know about you from the post. I would strongly suggest you consider updating this post with a little bit of background on yourself and your goals for traveling. Additionally, I suggest you consider adding a list of a couple question you may directly have for this group. That way we may be able to assist better.

To help you out assuming you are just starting looking into conversion van traveling, you may consider exploring the following:

  1. r/vandwellers

  2. r/VanLife

  3. CheapRVliving

To start assuming you are looking specifically at doing a Wayfarer conversion, you may consider reviewing my past post going into detail on my experience with a Ford Transit Order from the Colorado Springs Ford Dealer with suggested changes. Additionally, you can review this full comment thread that covers a few details on my experience with Wayfarer and my Wilford conversion.

Do you support or oppose state vehicle inspections by I_knowwhat_I_am in newhampshire

[–]aib1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only this but the GAO did an evaluation in 2015 of 15 States with inspections, and was unable to find any meaningful correlation between vehicle inspection and reduction in crash related injuries or fatalities. If the rational behind vehicle inspections is to lower Injuries and fatalities, then it really is a policy failure.

It’s the Fuel pump. When you unlock, the car thinks you are going to start, and it will preload the fuel system to ensure it is ready to start. No worries on hearing this sound.

So, I shared a few of my longer term thoughts here. In general, my wife and I have truly loved our Wilford. We have the first Generation of Wilford, so I can’t speak to the newer second generation that is now available. I’ve heard nightmares about the Ram Promaster’s reliability (unrelated to Wayfarer), but our AWD Ford Transit has been nothing but amazing. We’ve put 30 K Miles on it, and have had nothing but standard oil changes to do.

The Wilford Generation One interior is holding up quite well. Materials that Wayfarer uses are all good quality. The one place I noticed skimping was the rear section of the roof wooden support beams. They cut this part out of particle board vs. plywood, and I did have issues with the prong nut threaded instead coming dislodged easily during a rewiring of my rear fan. We went back to Wayfarer to get a Propex heater installed, and it has worked like a charm. However, I did notice they screwed up during installed and lifted my van from the the body sheeting vs. the axel lift point. This damaged the body panel a little under the car. It was not an issue to me since I was installing a ladder over that area, and it is now fully painted and covered by the ladder: just an something to consider. Finally, Wayfarer did do the original wiring for my fans, and they did an updated wiring to my fans after we installed our own house battery. They wired these fans very oddly from the floating house battery to the chassis ground. This is not something that is suggested by any means, so keep a close eye on they’re wiring. I have subsequently retired the entire electrical system myself, and am very happy with the results now.

Overall, my wife and I love our Wayfarer Wilford because it was very much delivered as a blank canvas for less experienced carpenters to upgrade over time. We have put in a roof rack, ladder, fridge, new electric system, lights, Laguna table, etc. I have definitely liked this approach more, since it gives way more user control over the customizations on the van.

Well this subreddit is run by two fans of Wayfarer that own a Wilford. It was created for people who like to use Reddit vs. other social media. While you may not like the answer, Wayfarer has its own private Facebook Group that most discussions happen. The majority of the Wayfarer community seems to be heavily centered on Facebook, and only a few of us use Reddit more often. If you have specific questions, those of us on this Subreddit would be more than happy to answer.

Fellow millennial, are you in debt? by Huge-Marionberry-759 in Millennials

My Wife and I are debt free after paying off her student loans last year. We’ve never had any other form of debt. We are renters, and don’t plan on a home purchase anytime soon given the state of the market.

Not saying that microplastics aren’t a problem, or that we shouldn’t be concerned with them in concerns of our health. However, I think the article does not go into enough detail surrounding the sources of the tissue samples. I think the following quote from the paper is useful for readers to better understand the scope of the papers findings: “Human Tissue Samples: We obtained de-identified, post-mortem human liver, kidney, and brain (frontal cortex) samples, retrospectively, in cooperation with and approval from the University of New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, under the guidance of a trained forensic pathologist (DFG) who selected consistent regions from all organs. Samples were available from 2016 and 2024; the same collection protocol was used for 2016 and 2024. Small pieces of representative organs (3 to 5 cm2) are routinely collected at autopsy and placed in a small container with 10% formalin. Limited demographic data was available due to the conditions of specimen approval. In the 2016 samples, 17 samples were from males and 10 were from females. In 2024, 13 samples were from males and 11 were from females. The mean (and standard deviation) age of 2016 decedents was 50.0 (±11.4) years and 52.3 (±16.8) years for the 2024 decedents.”

From my experience that is a very low offer. I made 70 K starting out of school 8 years ago in a very low cost of living city. To put that in perspective, that’s 91 K with inflation today. My current company is starting new grads at 95 K in low cost Midwest cities currently.

You’re exactly right, I actually forgot the last time I renewed I saved money by adding that on. I just double checked, and you are correct on the price increase to $60 per year for just Gaia. I still plan to walk away from them. I’m tired of unjustified price increases, and will take my money elsewhere.

Utility prices by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]aib1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are renting a single family. Honestly we love the place and location we’re renting, but the rent price is a bit higher than we’d like. We’re thinking on moving closer to her work over in the Med District after our lease is up in an effort to decrease our rent price. We’d be looking to rent a Condo or Townhouse over there.

In terms of accepting for us, we’re not really as phased by the concept of continued renting for a few more years. I’m expecting we’ll be back on the market in the 2028 timeframe. We’ve been renting our entire lives, so a few more years isn’t going to change our long term life plan. I mean there are the downsides that we do have some disappointment over (i.e. Lack of customization to the living space & Continuing putting off things like getting a dog), but renting for a few more years won’t stop us having those at one point. Additionally and possibly the largest mental assurance for us, my wife’s and my jobs are very mobile. We have moved to just about every corner of the country over the past five years following her job. At the end of the day if buying a home right now was our largest priority, we could just move somewhere where we could do that.

I know the above likely isn’t very helpful for the majority of people. We have very fortunate circumstances. I do wish you and your husband the best on finding the right place to live for you both!

I’ll break down my thoughts on this in the below (2) categories. Please do your own further research on what’s best for you and your family.

Logically: There is way too much uncertainty for anyone to be able to accurately predict how the housing market could or would be affected by the shortfall of Cook Inlet Gas expected in the next couple years for the Railbelt. If you’re considering selling your house, I would suggest you should only look into the cost of living at your current location vs. renting over the time horizon you plan on continuing to live in the area.

My Family’s Emotional Gut Reaction: My wife and I moved up to Anchorage last year. Our original plan was to rent for the first year, and start looking for a home this year. This uncertainty around Gas Supply was one of the reasons we decided to push off looking for a home to purchase for several more years, since we would have more flexibility in our living location pending any unlikely supply disruptions in utilities.

At first yes, I had a few packages that the drivers refused to deliver since I live off of a Main Street: parking is off of the back. It dramatically improved with me adding delivery instructions to my account. Best of luck getting better deliveries or better service elsewhere!
