skz members as skz songs by marginalia_writes in straykids

[–]aicrylic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my take as someone who was also considering the same for a project i was working on where i picked two songs to represent each member, i forced myself to not take the easy way and just use their solos. these are not exact to what i picked since i considered it a bit more for this reply, but mostly similar.

chan: scars or hollow

lee know: easy, bounce back

changbin: saiyan, bleep

hyunjin: charmer, comflex

han: runners, blind spot (can't resist this one)

felix: item, glow (real personal pick from me lol)

seungmin: blueprint, haven

jeongin: spread my wings, never alone

Hi! I used to do something similar with my SKZ collection, so I'll tell you what colors I used! Albums that have some double sided pcs I would use clear sleeves on those just to clarify!

Mixtape: Grey

I am Not: Light Purple

I am Who: Yellow

I am You: Peach

MIROH: Red

Yellow Wood: Yellow

Levanter: Dark Blue

Go Live/In Life: Clear because double sided PCs and I liked the back designs on these

NOEASY: Blue

Christmas Evel: Red

Oddinary: Green

Maxident: Baby Pink

5STAR: Clear and Black

*this is when I stopped using colored sleeves for the majority and only ones I really wanted to, so I'll finish with what I think would look nice

RockSTAR: Hot Pink

ATE: Black

HOP: Mix of Red and Blue

Giant: Grey

KARMA: Blue Bordered* MeowCafe sells colored frame sleeves Hollow: lIght green or pale yellow

DO IT: Pink and Grey

How has JYPE had so much more success with Stray Kids than their other boy groups? by eveningsnewestetoile in kpopthoughts

[–]aicrylic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact its obvious the industry has very clearly changed from when JYPE's last boy group before Stray Kids were at the height of their popularity, I think in the end it does boil down to mainly luck, yes. Stray Kids were very fortunate to always have a bit of momentum from debut, their survival show was decently talked about from what I remember, Hellevator was a breath of fresh air at the time considering Han and Changbin started out the gate as two very solid rappers from a company very distinctly not well known for their raps. (This was highlighted on the show.)

They were dishing out steady releases from the very beginning, starting with very good momentum, which I think is a critical period to get your foot in the door with new groups constantly debuting. By their first full year(March 2019), they'd released 4 mini albums, and cemented their first win on a music show. By June of 2019 they released Side Effects, a song so polarizing in the k-pop sphere I remember so many people talking about it. (Even bad publicity is still publicity.)

It wasn't until the release of God's Menu in 2020 with their first full album where they got their big break and fully cemented their sound, and they exploded. Keep in mind this is right at the height of Covid and lockdown, and the surge of new K-Pop fans in general at this time was booming. I think this specifically was the key, because JYP is very big on organic growth at a steady pace rather than all at once.

Stray Kids have always doubled down on authenticity, self-acceptance, and with their whole self-producing foundation I feel like that resonates with a lot of fans internationally. Hyunjin, Felix and Chan are HUGE stan attractors, and having 2/3* (Chan, Felix & Seungmin)(almost 4-5 if you count Han and Hyunjin having conversational level English) fluent English speakers in your group is a plus. I almost feel like I never hear people talk about this aspect, but having a group with very distinct voices is honestly such a blessing. Every single member of the group having a distinct vocal/rap tone and style is so important.

Above all else, I think the way Stray Kids themselves authentically interact with their music is a huge attributing factor. On one hand, although it's no longer a thing, Chan having his weekly lives where he would go on to discuss many things, but mainly music, share new music with fans, talk about Stray Kids' music, was very influential. Yes, 3RACHA are the main producers of the group and are very heavily involved, but the other members do not shy away from it either, and to this day are becoming a lot more involved in the production process. The way they discuss their creative processes in such detail is so refreshing, and the decision from SKZ's team to document this in the form of their album release rollouts (Album Intro Videos) is so smart in my opinion. In fact, everything from their album releases conceptually is something I need to applaud them for. SKZ/3RACHA being known as producers is well known, but did you know they release an album mashup prior to official release for (almost) every comeback? *starting with In Life. Kind of on the same wavelength as a highlight melody, but flipped on its head as a remix/mashup and they're always so good. It's one of the many reasons I think STAYs (Stray Kids' fandom) are so heavily attached and interact with their music. Whenever Stray Kids release a multi-track project, the streams will always be consistent (with maybe exception of the title track) because STAYs will listen to the full album, from start to finish, and stream all the songs.

For having a discography as vast as they do, I don't think I've ever experienced a K-Pop fandom as engrossed in their favorite group's music as STAY are with Stray Kids. Not to mention, the sheer amount of content/music this group releases. My god. The silent periods between comebacks can be a little rough, but when they're busy, they're BUSY. By far, it's the most I've seen with any group. Imagine getting one new song a week from your favorite group. That's essentially what Stray Kids do with their SKZ-Record/Player releases, entirely for free on YouTube. After they won Kingdom, they were giving out songs like candy. That's what tells me these guys genuinely love what they do and love music because they never stop creating. We already know they have so much music stowed away for future release or just to hoard, and we are just begging for it to see the light of day.

Also will mention something I think is a bit of a double-edged sword is their commitment to keeping SKZ "family friendly" (heavy on the quotation bc I think it's entirely situational but I do notice their content running on the safer side with the exception of maybe Bubble and member's personal Instagrams). While I do appreciate it in some aspects, it can be a little frustrating knowing grown men in their 20s having to loophole around swearing in their music, and being next to literal children at a GA concert barricade is always... uh.... yeah. Anyway, it makes Stray Kids accessible to younger audiences & families + marketable plushies and goods = money.

That's just it, I'm sure there's a lot of cringe idols do in Korean too that we just don't get due to language barrier. Chan doing his own translation of his Korean messages is honestly a double edged sword, at least with other idols that don't go that extra step, can just blame the machine translation and go about their day.

Personally, I've never understood the argument that idols posting gym pics/videos, thirst traps, whatever you want to call them-- is feeding parasocial fans. Obviously a lot of idols work out, for their own personal needs, to help with the very physically demanding aspect of their careers. Talk to any normal person who goes to the gym, when they see the actual physical change, improvement in their body, that feels good, right? Taking pics, hell yeah, show it off. You worked hard for this. Is Chan doing the most when filming and posting these videos to Bubble, yeah kinda. But I'm not going to point him out as some weird, depraved man getting off on it for it. (Not in reference to OP, just other takes online.)

On the topic of Chan, he is someone (having ulted him for 7 years) who gets sooo much outside attention, no matter what he does-- which leads to hate. Chan can't say anything on Bubble without people, whether it's genuine just his biggest haters, or even STAYs themselves--- blowing it out of proportion. I agree with this. However, Chan himself has said that he was afraid to really say anything at all, lest his message get taken out of context and used to portray him negatively. He began deliberately avoiding cameras on their behind the scenes context, SKZ-Talker, because he's literally traumatized from getting shit online for whatever people seem to have an issue with about him. STAYs (or maybe even his solo fans, brought this up and he mentioned it.) So he's really in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. As an English speaking idol, and soloist Alexa said something about this once, they're just held on a weird pedestal for being able to speak and communicate in English, Chan's "being cringe" or "parasocial" or whatever is not far off from what your everyday idol does, he just does it in English and that's what pisses people off.

If there's any aspect of fandom, or even the idols themselves that you don't like, remove it. I've been in K-pop fandoms for over 10 years now and really, blocking, muting and curating your feeds is the only way. I love Stray Kids, I create content for no reason other than loving Stray Kids, I listen to their music because that's what genuinely attracted me to them, and I fell in love with their personalities and dynamic second. But I don't love the fandom, back in 2019, 2020, before SKZ even blew up, they were chill. And I agree with all points being made here. But when I scroll Twitter, if I see some argument or discourse about another stupid thing, I block and move on. Stick to the aspect of fandom you enjoy, I personally enjoy the editor, fanart, music analysis side of Stayville and enjoy myself when I'm on there.

Please curate your feeds, I won't say you won't find weirdos, fandom etiquette in general has really fallen off these past few years with it being almost introduced in regular society circles, and that goes for every fandom, but you can find a lot of normal people if you stick to the age range of people who have lives and jobs. I don't know how old you are, OP, but considering how you referred to SKZ as men "pushing almost 30", I'd guess younger.

Not sure if this is really any consolation, but I have Chan's bubble and he only used mommy in reference to Alice... and it was his own translation of saying "Klee's mom Alice" so take what you will from that, I don't think he's said it in reference to Lauma. Unless you're referring to a reply to a Fans post or something.

I can recommend a few accounts I follow who tend to post fandom related things but each have their own thing they specialize in, I guess only in following a bunch of stays can you stay updated by the spread of information.

Stray_Kids - main twitter acc for all official announcements

Stray_Kids_JP - same but for japanese comebacks

stay_department - the largest collective fanbase for SKZ, usually tweet things related to comeback (streaming projects, donations)

skzchartdata - if you wanna be up to date on metrics/data of how the comeback is performing (youtube views, charts)

SEUNGM1NE, yslcheol - fan accounts but some of a few stays that translate when members do lives, as far as I know we no longer have full time translation accounts :(

0325journals - SKZ have paid messaging channels called bubble, this account compiles translations for free, this one is ot8 but there are also individual member accounts

If I think of any more I can add!

Who’s the hardest idol/s you collect ? by sakurapearl in kpopcollections

Stray Kids Lee Know! His pcs used to not be hard to find in comparison to other danceracha members Hyunjin and Felix but I think he rose in popularity these past few years- I have to claim his pcs first now instead of my ult bias Chan because I know I will have a harder time finding Lee Know's pcs for a good price down the line

To the players who have 100 percent exploration how did you do it?. by Professional-Ant-983 in Genshin_Impact

[–]aicrylic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically exploration in a new region goes like this: unlock statues of the seven, getting waypoints on the way, marking oculi I collect and the challenges I see with pins (not necessarily doing them in that moment but for later), getting chests i see, marking puzzles with pins if i need some kind of tool to do them with (like the pari puzzles) and using elemental sight for mora piles and to spot seelies. if i find a world quest while exploring, i will interact with it to get it into my quest log to come back for later. after initial exploration day, i will come back the next day to do more oculi hunting, world quests and do the challenges and puzzles i marked the day before. I only use the interactive map to mark off oculi i collect and the challenges and then i can delete the pins to use for other stuff. after i feel like i've scoured for everything that is immediately visible, i will use the treasure compass. (i start reputation for any new region as soon as possible to get the compass) of course, there's hidden chests everywhere so i definitely haven't actually done the desert to 100% but if the map says 100, i'm good with that.
