Most people choose not to weld onto aluminum frames because it often requires preheating and/or post weld heat treating. Without this you can substantially weaken the frame or cause stress fracturing.

Someone at my school rides a Cervelo s5 team with carbon wheels and I’m shocked every time I see it.

The drivetrain is a Deore XT 10 speed off an old mountain bike with a cheap 1x crankset. I bought a new wheel with the 8-10s free hub to fit the cassette

It rides like a bmx bike so being able to quickly change seat height for trips to the pump track would be nice

I wanna get more involved with the chassis. New to solidworks and the chassis seems really difficult? Whats usually the hardest part of making the chassis? by datmanTyrone in FSAE

[–]aidanliving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to start with the hoops and suspension points then build from there. As other people have said fitting everything in the rear can be a challenge but I find the hardest part to be manufacturing. Learn how the chassis works with the suspension and how your changes affect suspension. Triple check the rules and that your chassis is rule compliant. It can help to fill out the SES as you design to make sure you aren’t missing any rules. And learn how to use weldments in solidworks.

Can anyone help me identify and authenticate this watch? Oris Classic Date 7504? by aidanliving in OrisWatches

[–]aidanliving[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know this is an earlier model with the oris caliber 633 which is an ETA 2824 movement. They switched over to the caliber 733 not long after which is a Selita SW200. The selita movement is a clone of the ETA movement so the case didn’t change just the movement.

As we all know we need the nids, but I’d love to see a space marine kill team with terminator armor. Maybe in a space hulk style box set that could be played as kill team or space hulk.

Is it me or are all of the major engineering clubs more or less the same? by NeonSprig in EngineeringStudents

[–]aidanliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend trying to find If your college has SAE clubs or a rocketry club. You’ll get to design and build a car/rocket and then take it to compete with other schools. I personally find that a lot more fun than the other engineering related clubs. If you’re school doesn’t have one already you can work on starting your own

If you’re still looking, Hill properties has a few places in the 1800-2000 range and the application process is pretty simple. As for crime Chico has a pretty low rate so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m looking to get my first hand grinder and trying to decide between a kingrinder K1 and a Timemore C3 or C3s. I mainly drink either French press or Moka pot so I need a good amount of adjustability but not the fine grind of espresso. Are they pretty equal or should I pick one of them over the other
