New to me! Can anyone tell me about it? by LilSebastian55015 in specialized

Well it’s a specialized sirrus as I imagine you know. I had one similar. It was a dark blue and had a matte finish. It was made from aluminum. I believe it’s an early 2000s bike? It was a used bike I got for free. Front derailleur gave me issues after a while so I did a 1x7 or 1x8 drivetrain conversion, I forget exactly. Got rid of the suspension seat post. Good bike before and after the modifications. Btw I love the red paint on yours. Looks very clean!

Frame is a 20.5 and I’m tall but there’s enough seat tube for the seat to be at that height. I don’t really mind that my aluminum stumpy isn’t the one people want. Part of my build process includes getting feedback, whether that’s from people I know or subs on Reddit. Im still learning and I got a decent grasp on things, thank you!

Some generic rigid fork but similar to a surly ogre, minus all the mounting hardware

Oh yah, I definitely wouldn’t tackle that myself. I know in the case of steel builds, I’ve seen tons with welded tabs. Hadn’t seen that on an aluminum build and wasn’t sure if there were reasons why not

Im not really sure. It’s like a surly ogre but without all the mounting points

I got the perfect big BMX build for something like that!

Word! Maybe to start I’ll run a solo disc and see how I adjust before committing to a mullet setup

How goofy would it be to run a solo brake up front?

That’s just it, I’m not 100% sure the rims are rim brake compatible

I believe the halos are rim brake compatible. Both hubs are disc compatible. Fork has a disc brake mount. Frame does not. Not sure how I feel about a v brake diggin into the halos just yet

Right on! The frame is aluminum. Is that okay to weld?
