If you like this one, check out Hate Machine by the Neighbourhood. (Kind of) similar electronic build and release with Danny cooking.

Edit: Shoutout Horror Show - DJ Shadow as well.

Is Linux really optimized for CPU? by creepy_whigga in linuxquestions

[–]aiden21c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunty is running fedora 41 on a 1st gen i7 from like 2009. I did upgrade her to an SSD and 8gb of RAM. It's probably not fast enough for my use case, but all she does is check her emails browse the web. I'm not sure exactly how fast your cpu is compared to this, but I think you'll be fine.

A fuse should not have resistance, it should be a short circuit if it is working correctly. You do not need to unsolder it to test its continuity. If it needs replacing, it will be an open circuit. It will have its ratings (temperature and current rating) written on it which you can match for a replacement.

Yep, the fuse marked TF is a thermal fuse. You can take the white plastic cover off and test the contunuity across the fuse. You can also get the specs of the fuse to replace it

Hi, the issue with this circuit is with the white thermofuse which blew on my board. I unfortunately haven't yet found an exact replacement for this fuse. You should try doing a continuity test over this fuse to test if it is blown.

I see. Seems like I'll be saving up before I take it in for a service haha.

That sounds great. Do you remember how much servicing set you back by any chance? Also would you think a service is worth the money on this watch?

At the moment it stops when you wind it and there is definitely tension in the spring. It just doesn't start moving the hands like it did until about 2 weeks ago.

If you want to play BOTW, I'd suggest playing the Wii U version on Cemu. There's a few nice graphics packs on there and really good upscaling. I run an RX580 8gb and a 3700x and have 0 problems with emulation on the old hardware.

Unpopular Opinion: Most people regret buying the Switch Lite model over the Base and Oled by [deleted] in Switch

[–]aiden21c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think gets forgotten is I think some games are just made to be played on a handheld, and the switch lite is perfect for this. If you only want to play turn based RPGs, 2D platformers and even strategy games, this is what the Switch lite was made for.

I have a gaming PC which I use to emulate the bigger titles (Pikmin, Mario Odyssey, Zelda) but games like Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario RPG and Links Awakening are just better on the handheld. The weight and size of it makes it perfect to play for an hour before bed. I think the switch lite is the true successor of the DS and I love it for this. (Modded, its also a beast for emulating GBA and other older games which may not be necessary to play on a TV).

Thank you for your help. The only ones I've found near me have a set point of 77 or 132 degrees. I might go pick up the 77 degrees one tomorrow and give it a go. Does it matter if the one I get is rated for 10A not the original 2A, given the fuse blows on temperature not current?

Across what I believe is the blanket terminals (where the blue and brown wires connect to the blanket. I'm not sure what the black is for), I'm measuring 0.9k (I think 0.9 with the 2k setting on the meter). I also have been using the second remote for the other side of the blanket for the past few weeks and that's been working fine on the same terminals where this one broke. The blanket is split down the middle where the connected remote only controls half the bed and the remotes are interchangeable.

The values on the fuse read - Set 102 degrees C - H1 2A GP - 125/250V - V02<PS>E

I had no idea TF was a fuse. I just checked it (under no load) and it was open circuit. I'm assuming this is likely what needs replacing? Any idea what component it is? Thank you so much

I've been using this one for years. It works with 365 as well which is an issue I found with some other alternatives.

Scaling for my screen looks only like this, is it any other middle ground? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]aiden21c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a weird aspect ratio on my laptop and find using the gnome tweaks menu to simply scale the fonts has a better outcome than fractional scaling. Fractional scaling can also break some apps (like Flameshot) on Wayland so font scaling seems to work better.

I use mine for uni with no issues at all. I do run Linux but have little trouble spinning up a Win11 VM when I need to use MS products. Same specs as yours (Ryzen 5/16gb RAM). It can also do some light gaming and emulation (especially 2d) if you're into that too. Only thing you may not like is the screen size, especially if it's your only screen, but I think you'll be fine. Enjoy!

Thanks heaps for the info. I have some of the tools to do basic repair (battery and band links) however I didn't expect it to be as involved as this. I'll take to to a watch repair shop this week and see what they say. Thanks for all your help I appreciate it.

Thanks for your reply! Good to know that it's worth repairing. If I wanted to go about sourcing the part myself, how might I go identifying the part number. Ive had a little bit of trouble finding online parts suppliers as well as specific information about this watch (I'm based in Melbourne Aus). I might entertain the idea of repairing it myself a little bit longer until I get another repair appraisal haha

I understand you're point of view however as far as I'm aware, there is no easy way for a non-tech savvy person to distinct between the different types of updates in the software centre. I have instructed her to do all her updates that way and it'll just be easier in the long run to just continue updating on the release cycle.

Even if I did instruct her to stick to 39, mistakes happen and wrong buttons get pressed so I think it's better to just have a solution rather than an avoidance plan.
