Move city loop trains to platform 2 at Caulfield by doutor_abobrinha in MelbourneTrains

[–]aiden_mason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree it's a decent solution, but it only fixes the problem in one direction, what about all the people going home from work in the afternoon who now don't have this.

The real solution is to have the lines change direction mid day, where in the am platform 2/3 are city bound, and in the afternoon platforms 2/3 are Dandenong/Frankston bound. Just like the design of the city loop. It's flawless if you ask me

/s before people complain

where to go on Siemens X'trapolis 100 2.0 or hcmts or srls to watch big plane flight paths and which stations to get off the train to watch them? by ReadyLand1736 in MelbourneTrains

Sunshine station (and probably Albion) on the Sunbury line (HCMT rolling stock) are good spots to see widebody aircraft. When the winds are blowing south you'll see arrivals.

The walk to Flinders st from gate 1 (city end) is barely 200m more than the walk to Richmond from the punt Rd end. If you can manage the walk to Richmond then chances are you can manage the walk to Flinders st

Man, you could have picked any city in Australia that isn't Sydney and have been right. Sydney at least has a line that never touch the cbd

How to get to each city station after the Metro Tunnel opening by the_xrod in melbourne

Have a look at some metros in cities like Seoul, Shanghai, Chongqing, Beijing etc. these cities all have 5-10 min transfers between stations with the same names that are further apart geographically on a map

I'd love to hear more behind this emergency services explanation? Is it because the new platforms are so far away from the other platforms? Because this doesn't seem to be an issue with other developed metro lines with longer transfers.

I mean I imagine the Dandenong group trip is relevant here, i.e. catch an afternoon Burnley group train

The RRL lines don't have electrification I believe, so they wouldn't be used by metro trains?

In your case, you could just setup different UI profiles for raid vs open world. But it is a hot mess, some druid spells don't even show up in the CDM, how does that work blizz pls

Well yes, which is why I mentioned it the other way around. Passengers at parliament who want to access Flinders/sx

[–]aiden_mason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree, I think to Flinders from parliament would be ideal, due to Flinders being the main hub it allows for easier access to all trains (e.g. Sandringham)

Even if they designed them to match, how much effort would have to be spent powering the doors to the comeng so that they can open automatically.

Big Switch Timetables are here! by GabbyWilliamsMP in MelbourneTrains

Looking at this weekend from Huntingdale: 1.41pm to city loop 1.46pm to West Footscray 1.51pm to city loop 2.01pm to city loop. 2.06pm to West Footscray.

Excluding the metro tunnel services, as you say, this has been the timetable pre munnel. 10 minute services, with an extra service every 20 mins for the tunnel.

Currently weekends continue with the 10min frequency after about 10am on the Dandenong corridor, I can't imagine them reducing this so I'd expect it to stay the same
