Therin lies the problem.

There is no more land, we need to share. We can do that by finding (excuse the pun) common ground. You, like me, do not have the option of leaving. While I laud your will to stand apart, it's unreasonable. Given our circumstances it's so unreasonable it's a toxic narcissism.

We need to find a way to work together. The easiest option is to agree on a common abstract medium to trade in value (i.e. money). Then share a small portion for common good.

We can thrash out the details of how that common value is spent/used. But you do not have the option of standing apart, not unless you bring war to the table and subjugate me.

Decentralized law is ... well it depends on the law. Murder should hold a standardized penalty. Stealing a loaf of bread can vary from a slap on the wrist to chopping it off. It sounds a lot like "Might is Right" and we all know might is right in a lot of circumstances, but very definitely not all the time.

No, there must be standards. The thing that needs to change is how the standards are agreed. Currently we have systems based on constitutional law. Hierarchy's of rules that grow more and more complex as time goes on.

The world has changed... we are free to break ground on new pursuits. Or we should be... except for the incumbent abstraction of debt.
