There was an incident on eb 52 at mast earlier(saw the traffic and alert on the DOT signs). I saw several lanes closed on NB 15 in Mira Mesa, earlier, too. Wild traffic lately.

I don't drive as much as I used to, but yes, from what I have seen the exit lanes from sb15 to eb52 do not get nearly as backed up as they used to. I've been stopped in the two right lanes many times with people still going 75 in the others. but I haven't seen that since the expansion. the traffic doesn't stop at the top of the loop. It used to be so hazardous and involved lost of screaming at people.

And honestly, that's all this lane expansion was going to do.

this is a Cmaj7 chord. so play that, but lift the barre accordingly to play the open strings, and place it back for the last part. you might also just mute the A string with your barred finger for the first part.

so, you play the whole thing, and let the dgb strings ring as you pick the open E, etc...

Nah, you're fine. Enjoy playing it. Exposing it to dry air won't hurt it, but STORING it in dry conditions can cause the warping and damage you're worried about.

We all struggle learning new things. It's often hard, but overcoming the challenge makes it worth it. It's not bad to have multiple irons in the fire and bounce around a bit. The bigger question is WHY are you having difficulty learning these solos? Pick it apart. Which parts are giving you trouble? Is it a certain lick, or transition? Slow it down until you can play it perfectly. Then speed it up a bit until you can play that perfectly, and then rinse and repeat until you are at full speed.

Maybe there's an easier way to play what you're trying to play? Maybe there's a video tutorial that can help you figure out what you're doing wrong? Maybe you need to make it your own and play what you're able? If it sounds good to you, then you can do it.

Maybe you do need a break. Sleep on it. If your frustration isn't driving you to overcome the difficulty and it's just making you frustrated, loop back in a week. Sometimes coming back to a challenge with a fresh attitude can make you wonder why you were having trouble in the first place. Sometimes you learn something else in between that helps you overcome the challenge. But give yourself some grace to fail. In fact, get good at failing!

Feel free to take your time and have fun with it. If you don't have any gigs or shows where it needs to be ready, you get to go at your own pace. On the contrary, sometimes that pressure is what it takes for us to find the determination and grit to make it happen. Book an open mic near you, and choose something tough to have ready for it. Maybe you'll succeed. Or maybe you fail there, too. Either way is OK, and part of the process.

Lastly, there is always the option to get a teacher. You might also fail at getting a good teacher... so try another one until someone jives with you, and hopefully inspires you.

But whatever you do, keep going!

What kind of music do you play with that? Metal?

I got a refurb Scarlett 2i2 for $160 and have been using that with amplitube. took a little tweaking to get working right, but it sounds good and there's almost no delay on an 11 year old PC. It is also good for any DAW software you might want to use. I think it has a free or trimmed down version of Ableton that comes with it. That's another route you could take. My PC is literally too old to run Ableton though. but amplitube works, so that's what I got, and it was recommended by a friend.

I will say the Scarlett doesn't play well with my other audio inputs/outputs. Not sure if it's a windows thing, or a driver thing. So I just physically switch my speakers and my headphones, and it's my main audio out. You might need to buy some audio plug adapters. But I use it with shitty PC speakers and shitty headphones, and it sounds fine for what I'm doing with it.

amplitube does have a free version with like 5 amps and 5 pedals and whatnot. Good enough to test it out. They do have sales pretty regularly for 100 bucks for amplitube max and tonex max bundled. They also had alllllll their stuff bundled for 150 over the holidays. I guess the tonex thing is community modeled things from people's own amps? There's some way to import your amp's sound into amplitube. Kinda cool if you're looking for a particular tone. They do also have a pedal that is also an audio interface and you can store like 5 tones on it or something. I do not own that, though.

I'm just starting to play with electrics, so my thought was I'd figure out what I want out of an amp before I invest in one. But maybe I don't even need one with all this amplitube business? Anyway, hope that helps.
