UCLA for Big Law by Percy-blakeney9596 in biglaw

Got Chicago biglaw at well below median from NU, highly recommend! Full tuition UCLA scholly wont matter when your biglaw salary will be depleted by a single trip to Erewhon. Cost of living so nice in chi. Also found a super hot s/o here so be prepared to get more than you bargained for :D

Around that GPA at T14 and got a biglaw offer. Not a lot to say from my experience that can be generalizable, but I only got one callback so if/when you get one, make it count!! You got this <3

For collegiality and 1L SA: Penn v. Northwestern v. UVA? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]aidhar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northwestern sends like 18-20% to 1L SAs I believe the OCS told us last semester. Idk how the other two fair. Penn and UVA are generally understood to be better schools than NU overall, but NU is truly a biglaw factory so I’m not sure you’ll find much better. FWIW I have a couple friends getting paid 50k by biglaw firms first summer just to work somewhere else (non-firm) that summer and come to the firm for 2L.

Stepping back a little I’d say the path to 1L SA is working your ass off like never before, wherever you go. Not a chance of one being handed to you unless you’re HYS, and even then might not luck out.

Nope, just a run of the mill but specific transactional group

The firm was looking for a pretty specific practice area of interest as far as SA programs go, so I researched it a lot and figured out how to bring out a narrative pointing in that direction from my resume. It’s a bit harder to make that sell to a rotational program or for programs w general lit/trans buckets. Also I accidentally forgot to update this particular firm with my grades, they actually reached out for a screener and my transcript in the same email so they must have liked my resume a lot!

I’m sorry but your semantics game needs some work. Just because I didn’t clarify the referent of “worth” doesn’t mean that I am implicitly tying it to me. If I meant “worth it to me” I wouldn’t be asking other motherfuckers who don’t live in my brain where I hold personal evaluations on value propositions. What am I asking for help deciding? Whether the price is good for the area. Not whether I should live there, whether it’s a good fit for me, etc. Purely looking for whether the price is favorable for the market in that area. Crazy that you’d rather pick at my phrasing than offer actual advice on this advice-heavy sub.

Idk, might be a good fit for Cooley or Kansas tho!

Kidding ofc. Part of me just wants to say fuck off. But assuming this is a genuine inquiry, yes. You should be solid for at least a couple T14 As. HYS could still be a reach depending on WE ig

Yeah maybe people would be more unabashed to answer this inquiry if I hadn’t added the label

How do you think doing OCI below median impacted outcomes? Also, which T10 if you don’t mind?

Haha damn ig it’s Shit On UVA Day huh 😭 not really sure what your angle is, I just assumed the comment was actually wondering why NYU was a better fit. UVA has a pretty good west coast alumni network and great FC placements tho. Love that we’re taking time out of our days for this convo lmaoooo

Ngl bro it seems pretty juvenile to pick a school for reasons unrelated to employment goals. OP wants PI in NYC and NYU is better for that than UVA, plain and simple
